BANGKOK, 12th August 2019 (NNT) - The Board of Trade of Thailand is working with the Ministry of Commerce to add value to the wide range of Thai goods for export, in reaction to the trade war between the United States and China.

Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit; Board of Trade of Thailand’s Chairman Kalin Sarasin and Board of Trade of Thailand’s Vice President Sanan Ang-ubolkul, recently held talks and agreed to set up a war room of representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and the private sector, to monitor the world trade situation and jointly promote the export of Thai goods. In addtion, working groups will be set up to define each category of export goods, associated services and related marketing.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce will promptly open more trade negotiations, focus on cross-border trading and amend any regulations which might impede exports. The Joint Public-Private Sector Consultative Committee will hold a meeting on the issue on Wednesday.

The Board of Trade of Thailand’s Chairman has proposed temporary border trading points be upgraded to permanent ones and more centers for the distribution of SME goods be opened to ensure convenient processes aid the expansion of the range of exports from Thailand.

Don't they realise the high Thai baht is adding value to the export price thus the reason why exports are in serious decline.

A War Room sounds very impressive but a Joint Public-Private Sector Consultative Committee sounds equally so. They can call these these highfalutin gabfests by the fanciest of names but nothing will eventuate.

Yes a few months ago they introduced us to the Economic Avengers, where are they when needed.

Point the spotlight to the sky, you know the one that displays the Baht symbol in the circle of white light. They will come, committees formed, MoU's ready.

It just wasn't economic to produce large enough cans to seal the elephant farts in.

You can push all you want but when prices are too expansive , buyers just push back with a big fat no but thank you.

With a currency as unstable as the Baht it makes little sense to do anything in Thailand

10-1 with the heavy Chinese influence in Thailand.  I would not be surprised if the Thai baht is not devaluated in the future. A huge opportunity for Thailand to cash in on the US , China trade war. Wait and see but it would not surprise me in the least.

Please stop blaming the conflict between the USA & China for your current woes on the export market when you all know the problem lies with the strength on the Thai Baht. Everyone knows the current government want the baht strong in order to purchase more armaments but just for a change put the people first.....!!!

Sink the Baht....sink the Baht...sink the Baht.  That should be their only focus, as well as their new mantra.

Why doesn't Mr. PM simply order the world to comply?  And kiss China's ***
