Two million are expected to visit in 2019 - but that will rise to 14 million by the end of the next decade.

TNN have reported that the average Indian spends a whopping 5,800 baht a day.

Indians spending over 40,000 baht week ???????????? Pull the other one  sounds like Mumbai coming to a beach near you !

Those aren't "visitors," they're "colonists."

No. They return home. Its the whites who remain for decades,  hating the locals  importing western food and not learning the language

Thats a myth. Many girls prefer Indians.  A fact many whites are not aware of. The girls prefer Thais and Japanese too.

Fake news. We can see that it is the other way round: two thirds at least are male sex tourists. Even in cities like Chiang Mai you don't see many Indian tourists at all. And they are known as cheap Charlies, shariing rooms and women. Besides, you are already in the top 10 of Indians with a monthly income over 800 Euro.

You see what you want to. Anyway sex tourists spend more money than vegan gay backpackers. You are just threatened.

Hmmm.... More likely to be 580 baht a day I suspect?

5 baht and 80 satang.

They just put a , instead of a .

Same for the Chinese , it's actually 6 baht and something.

5800 Baht That’s only the afternoon beer bar bill you can double that for the evening night bill 5800 is a pretty miserable day out in Bangkok

Yes, even my Brother in law and sister, with their 6 kids will cost about 5000

baht or more per day, especially if they eat in a restaurant, and go to one or two

tourist attractions, and take a van to get there and around the city they are

visiting. This is a nonsense story, to try make Thai Tourism feel good, and to try

BS the Indian tourist into thinking that they are special. It insults every other

nationality, but what the heck, TAT does not care.

Geezer

i do not understad. How indian can spend 5600 bath per day if average salary in India much more lower än i thailand. There people in India who have money , but not many.

Many of then have salary of 15.000 bath per month.

How is it possible?

1.59 million visiting now is roughly 0.125 percent out of 1.4 billion population. Definitely the top 2-3% or more earn fairly good money there.

it's important to be precise

''many fat and\or ugly and\or older girls prefer indians'' sound more accurate

not a myth but real according to what i see on a daily\night basis in Pattaya.

The indians have simply took the place with these girls since the turks, iranians

and others countries of area, the gulf and the middle east have disappeared for some reasons

(Politics. wars, exchange rates and some others issues)

tuk-tuk is the three-wheeler that is less comfortable yet more expensive than a taxi, isn't it.
Only 500 B, that sounds like about 20 km or more in local prices.

Unless the locality is Phuket in which case 2 km would be about right.

Keep reading how big Indians are spending, but keep seeing 4 sharing a bottle of water from 7-11 and 2 sharing one bed in hotel.

Keep reading how Indians are buying big but keep seeing Indians trying to get bargain in 7-11

Keep reading how Indians spend big on food and drinks, but keep seeing indians sharing 5 chicken nuggets between 8 men and sharing 1 bottle of Heineken between 5 .

So where can i go to see Indians spending big? Anyone have a suggestion?

I see none of this in Samui, but then again not many Indians venture here and mostly families are coming.  Most are proper professionals, not tatooed bogans, and spend accordingly.

In fact quite often in the restaurants the worst customers are from a certain European nation, who order little, complain a lot, and hang around for hours after finishing eating.

Cricket, you need to start building cricket grounds or you are on a loser.

You see the problem goes back to education, if the Thais knew anything about history and geography they would know how much Indians love cricket. This don't don't because they dont teach or understand the rest of the world.

HOWZAT!

Where are these wonderful theme parks and zoos? Surely not places like the tiger temple or other Victorian era exploitive animal traps where the occupants are mistreated and starving. As for theme parks has Thailand ever had a world class theme park? Ever? Na really just sayin

You are so wrong. There are two massive water parks that are rated as being in the top in the world.in chonburi There are also two brilliant open air theme parks and gardens. Thailand also has some of the biggest, best most unique festivals in the world...all for free. There are plenty of excellent animal based places of interest including the Surin elephant round up, the Lopburi  monkey feast, The Sri Racha tiger park, various sea worlds. To say nothing of the cultural festivals,  firework festivals  food festivals   music festivals..so much. If a person lives in Thailand and does not know about these and many more great activities they are simpy stupid or ignorant.

Funny that they will NEVER understand that. Who cares if the spent 100k Baht per day? The important thing is WHERE they spend it? Neither Chinese nor Indians are going "deeper" into Thailand than BKK, the North and few beach destinations. Most of them come here for a short time.

In comparison westerners usually dig deeper into LOS, go off the track. The backpackers were often criticized as "Beg"packers, but they are the ones who brought money to 2nd and 3rd tier destinations in the LOS, staying overnight in small hostels and guesthouses run by local people.

Apart from the strong Baht, they should simply focus on ALL tourist groups.

The local population won`t benefit from Chinese groups or Indian families spending most of it in the malls or pre-booked restaurants.

And the 2nd point is that if won`t be funny for all those Thai bar-girls to get used to the new customer group. Just came back from Delhi...met some friends there. They are well-off, I respect them, but when it comes to their attitudes towards Thai women I get goosebumps. Most upper-middle-class Indian men think like that....so I really pity all those girls.

5800 X 14 days = 81,2000

my expenses approximately.  not including one time costs like motorcycle, scooter:

90,000 X 12 months disposable income = 1,080,000.00

1,080,000.00 / by 81,200 = 13.3

so I am worth 13.3 Indian tourists. :clap2:

Most come on a 5 or 6 day holiday.

dont be mean

look at the photo

you can just see the money dripping off them

and you should take journalism at face value

there are 8 of them in the photo equals 725 a head per day that sounds feasible no fake news there

The article states that the number is per person, not for 8 people.

Lots of wealth Indians and Nepali's have been to Thailand before but they do not return. They know racism when they feel it.

Beaches are better in India, Goa and Kerala, they also have Andaman Islands and Lakshadweep.

Indians have heard of the famous sex in Thailand, that is all they might come for. Even that is not so great.

Guess not so great when they cannot get the 5 for 1 deal they try to bargain for.

OR the "I need to sample it first" ploy.

well, if that is meant as a tongue in cheek headline, then it is surely a tongue with a Colonist supremacist bias that echoes well among the contributors to this "discussion".

By Colonial Supremacist are you referring to the same group of people who literally invented everything including the transportation that gets the tourists to their destinations without which the very words “Thai Tourism” would have never come into being.
