Professor Einkugel of Munchen-Gladbach University has been discredited, and has now been de-platformed.

But! You are correct about the conflicts; just jealousy IMO. Viva Le France.

Oh, I though Mr Owl had barricaded himself in the shed. Hence my comment regarding taking shelter in a battered husbands' refuge.

Perhaps he still needs it if Mrs Owl has locked him in the shed?

Either way I expect further updates from Mr do you want to..

Probably along the lines of 'My Kubota and I-an Isaan Farmer's Tragedy.'????

Vive la France, surely.

Yes! Bang on the money there Mr Chickenlegs.

I am living in the past somewhat. It was only a short while ago that the 'a' and 'e' were separated.

The English language is mage up from many countries that invaded it. The Danes, Vikings, French and others. Although English is rich in terms of depth, I think France has it beat hands down on depth. We French use tonalto words accent too. Just like the Thais in fact.

I had an English girlfriend once. She was lovely. Came from Newcastle. Pillow talk was difficult though

Anyway, Mr Owl has sent me a nice pic for the thread:

I seem to have heard (read) that expression used before on this thread, and not from a Frenchman.

Isn't it an Essex term?

I do believe they have phrases like this in England Mr Chickenlegs.

A lot of these phrases originate from the French of course. 'Cut the mustard', 'go sh!t in the sea' and 'let them eat cake' are others. And of course that most famous of sayings; 'not tonight Josephine'.

There's another, "keeping mum". I won't question your Frenchness any further.

Those trees are just great VV. If I had one in my garden I'd build a treehouse. My daughter would love it.

That one looks like a Figueira , excellent shade !.

Reminds me of a factory I used to visit regularly, the tree was a great place for a siesta after lunch, looked like a surreal atomic bomb had gone off and all the bodies laid around it !!

I understand that Mr Owl is well.

He is self-isolating in his garden shed, trying to avoid Mrs Owl.

I'm sure Mr Owl would not mind me saying that he is working on his thesis; 'How chilies could save the world'.

I'm sure he will thank you Mr GT for your concern when he returns next week.

Perhaps he found a new hollow tree to hide in.

I looked them up on Google. Usually known as Saman Tree, Rain Tree, Monkey Pod Tree, or Mimosa Tree. Surprisingly, related to the garden pea.

Looks like that might be the giant tree that is also referred to in the Wiki article.

I edited this post to remove the image, as it seems the image was not from Thailand, but related to some horrific child murders/beatings in Cambodia.

I'm not sure how the image got linked to the Kanchanaburi Giant tree - and I apologise for posting it.

Have to be careful what we say. Maybe Mrs Owl has infiltrated his log on and has him hanging upside down by his goolies trying to extract some kind of confession.

I’ve always admired how highly he speaks of his missus, how loyal, committed, faithful and never been led astray or even thought about it. She sounds a wonderful person to be with and gives hope to us all.

I wonder if they're used in the same way Margaret Thatcher did, giving rise to the expression that some cabinet ministers 'had been handbagged'.

My dad got me interested in trees when I was a kid. We used to check out new kinds of trees when taking out of town trips.

There was a ceremony about three years ago that had something to do with formally protecting the yang trees on Chiang Mai Lamphun Road. A couple years ago two were lopped off leaving about 5 meters of trunk. It was quite controversial as the tree loppers claimed the trees were dead. Meanwhile some people claimed that the trees were in the process of being restored. I read somewhere that there were 2000 trees originally and now it's down to 900 trees. It might have been in a PDF file I had stashed away somewhere. It had a nice write-up on the history of theses trees but I can't seem to find it now.

Mr Owl will be back soon. He would like to thank all the posters for any concern. At the present time he has vacated his shed. and is making plans to climb the giant yang tree in Udon, to establish its true height.

A couple of pics, that he asked me to publish on the thread. They are of his nearest town; Ban Dung.

Footy in Ban Dung. Big trees behind.

I take it his underground tunnel to escape from Sheditz was successful then?

Have to translate these English words into French so I can understand what is being said Mr Bluesofa. And then translate back. Sometimes words get confused in translation.

I am sure that Mr Owl will 'upset the peas' when he returns. Or, as we say in France; 'chuck the onions'.

Naw..he's still there..with a couple of coat hangers sticking out of the top to enable communications with Farangia.

About normal for the average farang domiciled in Isaan..

Having seen pictures of Owl  balanced on his ladder(s) repairing the roof in flipflops, I think we should all prepare ourselves for the worst.

(I'm sure he's kidding as he knows his trigonometry and can calculate without leaving the ground.)
