I'm sure there will be enough for the surrounding golf courses ...

Good, nothing worse than playing on a dry golf course!

Guess they will be using their built in resources, one of the reasons they are designed with so many water holes and hazards I would guess

This not only affects Phuket but many places around the world.

Phuket over the years with the massive amount of contributions to the coffers should have

planned for this as they dished out new building permits ( counted the toilets & shower cubicles)

& acted in an appropriate fashion ,,,,,,,mai pen rai.

Solar powered desalination is great but you still need a place close to shore to store it.

Hua Hin is just as much in trouble (owners or potential owners beware)

You are an ISLAND! You are surrounded by an OCEAN! Has anyone even remotely considered a SOLAR POWERED DESALINATION PLANT?

Sorry.  Rhetorical question

But does a desalination plant also cope with the  sewerage waters around Phuket  ?

Guess you are unaware that those plants are very very very expensive.

The submarine is cheap compared to that. But yeah, best solution indeed.

One day they will have to close all swimming pools.

Why not fill pools with ocean water instead.. I think golf courses are worse, like Portugal imports water from Spain to maintain them.

Just add another week to Songkran, it will be fine, lol

That is like 0.0001% of the water usage, really a non issue.

This water shortage is going to be very interesting to monitor to see just how all these hotels / condo's / houses etc. fair over the 'high season' months ahead.

But Phuket must have planned for the future, after all every one of the condos, hotels, malls etc., etc. constructed had to have an approved EIA before building works could start????

I am glad you tell us the exact number of the insane water wasting festival,

Note to self:

When moving south to re-retire avoid Phuket.

Need to avoid more than Phuket. Pattaya is also dry.

Nothing shows up lack of planning like infrastructure incapable of accommodating the number of people allowed to live in an area. Not something limited to Thailand.

Once again greed has shown the local officials in a bad light. Allow unlimited building to get more tourists, and suffer lack of basics, like water.

The city water must have been off the other day, one house I know doesnt have a well and a water truck outside delivering water

Hasn't been a "World Class" resort for years.

Certainly not since the tsunami, when they rebuilt the same dump it was before. They had the chance to make it brilliant, and blew it big time.

Didn,t realise the whole place was wiped out, or perhaps they should have bulldozed the lot?

The whole place wasn't wiped out although Patong was trashed and the damage was on the west coast

Sage advice from Prayut:

flush your toilet only once a day

If it's brown, flush it down. If it's yellow, let it mellow.

I was responding to the suggestion that it was the chance to replace everything, stupid statement.
