Unable to curb illegal dumping, Pattaya allows anything to be put in city trash cans

 

PATTAYA:--Despite years of effort, the city has been unable to make a dent in the wave of illegal dumping of garbage, large items and construction waste on roadsides, public land and private lots.Pattaya has removed all restrictions on what can be disposed of in city trash cans in an attempt to end the plague of illegal dumping.

So in last-ditch effort, Deputy Mayor Manote Nongyai announced that old furniture, tree branches, rubble and construction debris can now be disposed of in individual and public garbage cans that will be collected on a regular schedule.

Despite years of effort  I'm still unable to find information as to where are the legal government run dumping sites...where are they ? 

never mentioned in any of these reports  surely there are some aren't there ???

Oh. I don't live in Pattaya, but our dustbin men/garbage collectors have been taking our dead palm tree branches away for years.

Should they have blurred out the plastic  bags!

Right! That´s the way to go. Now nothing is going to be possible to recycle.

I bet the contractor who recently was awarded the contract after a long trial feels shafted with this decision.????

Good point, heaving up bins full of broken rubble and concrete was not in the original bid!

Good ! Now maybe, just Maybe this will reduce the dumping in my Corner of the Woods.

But I seriously doubt it.

That's nice. Now all you have to do is to find out under which mountain of trash the cans are buried in.

That's actually quite an enlightened policy - back in the UK most councils have started charging for bulk waste pickups or even to use the council dump. Flytipping has increased dramatically as a result and then they just have to divert resources to sort that out. Apparently under a previous management at our condo they hadn't paid the city garbage bill for over 2 years but they still continued to take it away. There's a lot to criticise Pattaya Council for but from where I'm viewing it they seem to have got this right.

He'll probably refuse the contract without more cash, that'll take 6 months of arguing during which time nothing will be collected at all. TIT

I agree with the above poster, enlightened. He's right about the UK. Instances of flytipping have increased dramatically since the changes he mentions.

Where are the city trash cans? Must be fake news.

They'll still dump it anywhere and everywhere.  Thais don't see refuse; they don't hear un-silenced motor bikes or barking dogs.

Pat-trash-aya. No organized, house-by-house recycle program. No consequence for illegal dumping. The inmates seem to running the show. Pathetic.

It's a shame the Tessakit and the Police can't get off their collective fat a##es and actually do the job they are paid to do, ie get out there and catch these people who are disposing of their waste illegally

When we want we can ..
This problem is almost global.
In France some mayors have taken the bull by the horns and have the wild deposits "peeled" by employees trained for this.
Generally they discover in the rubbish illegally deposited evidence of the place where they come from.
These mayors have the rubbish in question loaded in dump trucks and have it dumped in front of the offender's door with the invoice that goes well with it;
invoice on which they will discover the hours spent by the employees to find them and the cost of the truck ...
Plus a fine for illegal discharge.

 

and icing on the cake, national newspapers write about it , which makes a positive publicity for the mayor and of course a loss of masterful face for the offender.

Life under the Dome......Thunderdome ..drive it like a rental.

You say that but I get a guy round regular, a scavenger, and I collect the stuff he wants separately. That is a form of recycling.
