Thailand road carnage: Foreign tourist who hit traffic light in Chiang Mai gets top billing!

A Thai Rath video on Youtube featured the latest madness on the Thai roads, now universally famous for being some of the most deadly on the planet.

Top billing went to what the media said was a foreign tourist who was behind the wheel of a vehicle that slammed into a traffic light at the Mae Hia intersection in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai.

The vehicle ended up on its side but the foreigner was uninjured.

In other footage two Thais on a motorcycle in Phuket left the road and collided with a concrete structure in the central reservation.

The 36 year old male rider and 26 year old female riding pillion were both killed.

In Buriram a gas tanker driver fled for his life after his vehicle overturned. A damaged pick-up was found nearby as police and firemen worked to douse down the area and return the road to normal usage. That took two hours.

In Trat near a karaoke lounge a vehicle that had been parked caught fire.

A leak is suspected.

Outrageous...  I’ve no idea how both of those accidents are even possible.

The car (isuzu?) simply deviates from the road straight into the traffic lights... what on earth was the driver doing? - checking his phone? fell asleep? heart-attack at the wheel??? freakishly insane.

The Motorcyclists then ups the ante by simply riding off the road, rather suicidal... checking the phone again?...

Fv<kwittery at its most extreme.

They really love blame anyone but themselves. Yes an Isuzu goes belly up, but we do not see the driver once to assess who they are?

It really is remarkable the sheer amount of stationary objects that Thais manage to hit

Foreigners too apparently...

That said, a remarkable amount of stationary objects do get hit in Thailand... poor road design, poor attention span....

yes but  foreigner didn't scarper! - hence easy to identify directly, without need for speculating...

I was wondering if the pillion may have contributed some how, it seems the only way, alas we will never know.

Looks deliberate, turns right straight for the tree almost as if "sod it why not". they didn't seem to be going very fast.

Like Nero was not in Rome when it burnt, honestly, it wasn't me having a leak when the vehicle went up in flames, I was eating khao man gai in Bangkok when it happened.

'nuf sed.
