old computer chugs away downloading series and movies from tpb, then to usb and watched on tv

main computer has vpn  and connected to tv to watch the channels from back home

cost; wifi 350 baht/month and vpn 200 baht/month, for more viewing than i could ever need. works very well, cheap and easy. but... maybe i should get out more ????

I'm using Goose VPN, $2.99/month.

That gives me 50GB/month,which is ok for me.

I prefer downloading to streaming - so best set up qbittorrent and Plex. No need for a VPN to do that here...

So many ridiculous uneducated waste of time and money posts on this subject.

Wasting 2000 b a month on these <deleted> TV services.

Buy an MXQ pro or similar android box.

Connects to your internet and TV.

I get live TV, every movie, TV series, Netflix, HBO, Showtime, blah blah.

All for free just the cost of the box which was 1700 b.

Basic TV is free in my building. Fast modern internet 550 b a month.

550 a month for everything in the world.

Weird - when I search for MXQ Pro I see prices of 455baht and 599 for the 4K box... however, I already have the PC connected upstairs and PLEX app in the living room, so no need for that.

How does yours work? I bought an android box years ago for HBO and all it could get was a few porn channels. So I went with AIS instead. Did you have someone program yours? Or did you do it yourself? I don’t know you might be more skilled with that stuff than me. I’m trying to find IPTV and access something like you have or better if available.

hahahahaha, a title and 10 minutes.

I can do that via torrents !!

I was allowing for posting / reposting times as well, to perform an experiment and demonstrate its outcome.... if you can do that, then it’s 5.45 now... let me know when you have “1917” playing.

bkk6060 posted that his 1700 baht box allows him the watch any content he wants for free, "including Netflix, HBO, Showtime, blah, blah, blah" and now YOU say that is true.

So, maybe you can give me the name of any Android Box or any device that allows you to stream video directly from Netflix, HBO, Showtime or other subscription streaming service without being a paid subscriber.

USTV Now, allows you free access to only 5 US TV broadcasting services. You have to have a paid subscription to access the other 23 US providers. To stream live TV broadcasts from most US TV networks websites, first requires you to sign into your local TV providers account with your username and password. No provider account, no access.

I will be waiting for the name of the magic box that provides 100% free content.

It isn't "the box"; and, it's not magic.  It does take some common sense plus a belief that it actually works to get it set up.  Once you have an android box you then load either APKTime; or, Filelinked (or both) which in turn give you a pretty much inexhaustible list of apps like the ones I mentioned.  Filelinked requires code(s); because, there are several contributors each containing apps they have copied/created.  Not all are the same.  Nearly all of them have the apps I mentioned in the earlier post. The codes can be found by simply typing "filelinked codes" into google.  Most android box users have it customized to their particular viewing preferences.  Anyone having problems I am sure can create a post to get whatever issues they have resolved quickly.  BTW, I'm not saying any of this is legal; but, it's out there. The world is full of hackers trying to outdo each other.  Some have been shut down; but, have quickly been replaced, evidenced by the multiple contributors to Filelinked.

Great post... and funnily enough, this belief (or lack thereof) you speak of was my greatest obstacle.... It caused me to put off changing over to a digibox for years.

I've seen more than one post about the box getting hot. Not sure how a box with surface mount technology running off a 12VDC power supply will ever get hot (other than your house being struck by lightning).  Not to mention having a fan blowing on the external plastic/composite case is pretty much a wasted use of a fan. Devices that have fans pull the heat out of them not blow into them.

looks like you have no idea at all about the subject. First of all Android boxes run on 5V not 12V.

Every budget box overheats in tropical Thailand, but you are not aware because you can't measure the temperature.

The heat is produced by the processor, and you will know that ANY processor will produce heat when working.

A PC has a large heat sink installed on the processor with a fan on top and has a large casing with many more fans inside blowing air through the casing.

An android box has something like this glued on the processor

image.png.12f9ce9310ccab284e8fdecdbf407202.png

I have seen heat sinks 2 x2 x 0.5 cm glued on those processors.

Further more the Android pcb's are installed in a small case with no air space inside, with the smallest now the size of a bank card, and are made of plastic.

Plastic works as an insulator, not as a conductor, so all the heat stays inside the small space and increases.

So with the ambient temperature in Thailand Android boxes start to overheat after 30 minutes of use.

Once they reach 70°C the processor will go in protection mode to prevent melting the processor. Therefore it will start by lowering the frequency of the processor and reducing the performance of many other components including your Ethernet adapter and video frame rate.

If you think that boxes don't run that temperature have a look at the screenshot from a very popular box called T95Z

I'd say that unless you have an android box your "blah blah blah" remark is just that.  Get an android box, load the proper apps on it; and, you'll see that most of what you profess to be unavailable is actually there. TVTAP Firestick Pro has HBO, HBO Family, HBO Zone, Showtime; and, Showtime 2.  The USTV app has additional offerings of those as well. The shows/movies on Netflix can be found on other Apps such as Cinema HD, Titanium TV, Tea TV.Nova TV; and, many others.  Everything bkk6060 said is true.

bkk6060 said they are free. How do you get them free?

You are wrong and your post is uneducated and false.

I get live HBO, Showtime, and just about any live TV movie or series.

The box is full of pre loaded apps that allows access to these subscription services.

They are not available to every internet user.

I also get Netflix.  Their movies can be located on the search engine from my box.

Just watched the Netflix movie 6 Underground.  Then watched Dirty Harry from 1971.

So, I suggest you get your facts straight about this type box as you are wrong.

PS:  The current movie being shown on HBO in the US is called Arizona.  A movie starring Danny Mcbride.

I am watching it now. Duh.....

If I got an MXQ-4K could I do the same thing in America?

MXQ--4K is just a brand name, any android box or PC will do the same. Yes, you could do the same anywhere in the world.

The apps etc that people use are just front ending torrent downloads. You can find the same content using a torrent client and a torrent website.

Keep in mind, its all illegal

Thanks. Is there a way a non-techie can learn what to do/how to do it?

Its as easy as downloading the apps that people mention.

Some internet proidors may block torrent sites but the apps use proxies etc to get around the blocks

There are a number of free apps in the PlayStore that reports information about your Android device, such as CPU-Z.

- SoC (System On Chip) name, architecture, clock speed for each core ;
- System information : device brand & model, screen resolution, RAM, storage.;
- Battery information : level, status, temperature, capacity ;
- Sensors.

Thank you for reminding everyone about this.
