Today i didn't see anybody in Bangkok wearing a mask.

Lol I'm sick with the masks - Thai's put on masks and handle everything without cleaning hands - and handle the masks too. Sure way to infect yourself.

"We are 100% in control of the situation,"  Ah, the words of a fool or the words of someone who knows far more than he is letting on....maybe!

Here in LOS I am reminded daily of a famous Sam Clements quote “It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt”

I think I understand why some countries didn't impose a total ban on Chinese tourists entering. I believe that once the crisis is over, China might only lift the ban on outbound tourist groups initially to those countries that have not imposed any ban. Those that had imposed a total ban might have to wait months or even years before they see any tourist groups arriving.

After all, currently, even without any ban, inbound Chinese tourists are not that many, so a total ban may not be such a good idea. China would remember who its true friends are and reward them accordingly.

I wish there was a country that was a PURE democracy, or even a good Republic.  I'm sure the 70 million Thais would vote 99.9% to NOT allow Chinese in.

Making an extra 10,000 baht but dying.......Let's not kid ourselves, the REAL numbers are a magnitude higher (350,000 infected, not 35,000).  We all know how bad this is...  it's air born.  long range....

Like influenza with the same outcome, don't see people with the flu being put into quarantine. Influenza has killed more people worldwide than corona ever will and does so every year, get used to it.

Remember guys they want to kick out Farangs for not wearing a mask! But Chinese you can come in with the virus! haha

In case y'all haven't been paying attention, the number of cases in Singapore (Population 5.6 million) is 1.5 times as many as the number of cases in Thailand (population ~ 70 million)

North Korea now has likely cases... and they are one of the most closed borders in the world.  They will shoot people on site seen crossing the border without permission... which is likely where the cases came... across the border on the north.

Wearing masks will not stop this virus.

Thailand seems to fail to realise that if the virus starts turning up in other countries via tourists going home from Thailand, it will destroy Thai tourism for a decade

But let’s be clear on this. Isn’t it possible that the official number of 32 is a sham being foisted on the world, when the real incidence of infections in Thailand is very likely an order of magnitude higher?  Can a government more concerned with face and appeasement be trusted to openly disclose the truth to the world and act as a responsible nation?

The obvious answer is no.  A potentially devastating disease process is being shrugged off as nothing more calamitous than a common cold. Things may get very dismal here but I pray not as bad as anything like now being experienced in China. The biggest indicator of Thai politicization of this devastating contagion is that the public health minister himself is not a seasoned medical professional as would be required...mandated really...in a modern society. Without a lifelong, deep understanding of disease epistemology how can the incumbent ever be expected to act in a responsible manner and carry out what ordinarily should be his foremost responsibility...protecting the health of his own people?

Yes the number is a sham the small islands of Hong Kong and Singapore have more reported cases than LOS.

Quite! Cannot annoy big daddy, now can they.

Amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Thailand has not restricted Chinese tourists from entering the kingdom

So , par consequence , Thai should be denied entry to a foreign country if they want to travel . By putting the profit above security in times of a virus outbreak , they should be considered ' unwanted aliens ' . Fair enough .

Seriously? How many countries have a "Minister for Health" that actually have a medical background? I'd be surprised if you needed more than one hand to count them on.

By listening to their expert advisors.

We have to be realistic ; closing the doors now would be pointless; the damage has been done for several weeks.
And the number of 32 infects in Thailand that does not move is such a huge forgery that nobody believes it for a single second

Yeah, and Singapore has banned flights from China as well as people having visited China within the previous 2 weeks. My employer (a university) in Singapore requires us to take our temperatures twice a day, enter the number into an online system, and retain a photo of the thermometer as evidence; don't do this and you will be terminated. The government provides detailed case-by-case updates everyday. They have also provided masks to every household. They are taking the matter very seriously and professionally, unlike at least one of their neighbours...

Singpores population density is way higher!  So your point is?

Just try to defect from this government's pathetic, sycophantic handling of this issue?

"We are 100% in control of the situation," Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has been repeatedly saying

I'm sure you are, dear Esteemed Leader. Just dismissively flash a 'mini heart' sign like you did and everything will be okay, right? Anyway, it's not the Chinese but the farangs who are spreading the virus, according to ai Anutin. Carry on then. Your fixation on your Chinese paymasters to the exclusion of other markets, your desperation and your greed, are repulsive. Serves you all right that other tourists are giving the Land of Smirks a wide berth, and then some.
