Thailand reports 188 new coronavirus cases, brings total to nearly 600

Unfortunately the time has come where the ineptitude of the fools running the show along with misinformed or just stupid people will bring this country to it's knees. 81 yesterday so far 188 today not long now into four figures for daily new cases of infection. If testing was actually happening then the official figures would show just how bad things already are.

Looking at the European infection/ mortality ratio, and the number of respirators required at ICU facilities, I suspect that Thailand is disguising  the true Covid19 mortality rate. I also don't believe they have sufficient respirators. The Italian Military are disposing of Italy's dead. What are the Thai Military doing?

That might be too late now, they can only flatten the curve now, thailand missed his chance. They need to lockdown asap tho, or it will get horrible.

  • Huge amount of daily jumps now. Similar to how it started in Europe a few weeks ago. Got a feeling they need to impose a proper lockdown (this government have done it before) to avoid Thailand becomin

I have not seen on this thread any reference to the lockdown of the entire country that was announced this morning until April 12th. The only shops that can remain open are supermarkets, 7/11s and pharmacies. Every other shop or market must close or else face fines of THB 100,000.  All our locaI businesses have implemented this today in Bang Saphan. If I am wrong then someone will correct me.

I believe you are 100% correct simtemple. Cause of death pneumonia or any other underlying condition. Not pneumonia due to complications from covid19, sarscov2, coronavirus etc. Straight out of the Chinese propaganda book.

I don't see any reference to this in the english newspapers.  There is more of a shutdown in Bangkok though (ordered by the Bangkok governor).

Today here in my area in Chiang Mai there was an announcement through the speakers that they are closing malls, bars and so on, same as in Bangkok

A request  for calming down!

In the beginning of this Corona "Show" I was criticising the government of Thailand and being very sceptical about their publication of numbers. I thing, there are many reasons to mistrust this government and many good reason to be very critical with every government in the world .

But now we are at another act of this Performance. Europe is already in panic mode. Mass panic and fully supported by all mass media. (TV, social media, ...). The governments in Europe are at the point of thinking that now is the right time to show everyone they are in full control and are using unlimited force and might. Even just criticising their action their actions are labelled as very dangerous and in the end being guilty of the death of hundred of thousands of people.

This is a very dangerous situation. Panic of millions/billions of people is a very dangerous situation. Even panic of some hundreds of people in a cinema or theatre /sports stadion is exteme dangerous and mostly leads to the death of many people. The whole world in panic mode, including governments and mass media. This is nearly the most dangerous situation one can imagine.

It did already hit worldwide the economy. And this doesnt mean "its only money". It means, Trillions of people worldwide are and will be affected economicaly very hard. Many will not now, how to provide themselves with the basic things they need to survive. The side effect of the struggle against corona are immense: In Europe, the resources for usual medical treatment of people are already reduced. (f.e. surgery is stopped if not absolutely necessary, supply of pharmaceutical products is already interrupted) All this side effects will lead to hundreds of thousand deaths worldwide in the future.

And in the end some facts to the Corona virus:

From the scientific side  of view, there is little known about this new strain of this virus. There are no reliable data about f.e. death rate. What you can see by now is, that the situation seems very different in countries over the world: F.e. Japan seems to be able to limit the death rate and the spreading (without draconian measures).  I think also Singapore is very successful at this aspect. What about the alarming death rate in Italy, what is evident is, that the north of Italy is like Wuhan (China) one of the most air polluted places on earth.  So that means, that at both places you have big numbers of people with pre damaged respiratory systems and overall with already weakened immune system. From Italy you can also learn, that people dying in Italy are those with already having severe  (mostly chronical ) illness .

Corona is not a decease like Pestilence ("Black Death") . It is actually more like the normal influenza. The impact for health may be bit more compared with the usual influenza but not that much. the problem with medical facilities (hospitals etc.)is, that they are just able (hopefully) to cope with normal rate of clients. If they get more clients as normal, they get very soon in Panic mode ! and are overburdened. This doesn't necessarily means, that the numbers of clients are exploding.

So please, every body calm down and refrain from throwing more fuel in the already world in flame. This way you will save lives.  This virus will not end human live on earth but the side effect of dealing with it are dangerous and will be severe.

Thank you for reading!

Not seeing this yet. The Thai people in my neighborhood still sitting close together for hours at a time sharing drinks and eating out of the same bowls with their individual spoons (no serving spoons). They do wear masks outside the complex as though being inside it magically protects them from spreading illness.

I witnessed similar today in many restaurants in Udon.
Many had gone to the trouble of putting a red X where you could sit so no one was opposite another and the tables were well spread out.
Firstly, not all restaurants were doing this and those that had were just ignored by groups of Thais. I’m sure the waiters were too scared to say anything so just left them to it.

I’m in Udon Thani and Central Shopping Mall was open as usual with all the shops within open.
Outside all the usual restaurants and coffee shops are still open so I think the lockdown you are referring to was in BKK

Numbers are still bs and nothing else. Not tested, not published and if, then heavily falsificated by the government. 40 million Chinese visiting Thailand only caused 600 infections? Just compare to Europe where numbers are very much accurate and not falsificated... should Thailand not have far more than hundredtousand infections given the bad medical infrastructure, low education, poverty, hygiene-stupidity and Thai stubbornness ??

And how about China? Who can seriously believe Chinese numbers when Europe shows the exponential growth of infection numbers just within days. Given same low education, cultural shortcomings, limited knowledge about sicknesses and there spreading, bad hygiene (dirty kitchens, dirty public transport, coughing into each other's faces, spitting all over, etc) and heavy overcrowding and culturally no need for personal space, and heavy environmental pollution, how much more people must have been infected and killed, than in Europe,  multiply Chinese governmental numbers by 100...

To me, Italy proves how heavily China has lied and how heavily Thailand is lying about infection numbers. Italy and other central European countries, especially Germany and Switzerland are reliable reference to prove the real spread of covid-19.

I have a feeling it will actually take effect tomorrow as the order came out around 10.00 this morning. We will see tomorrow.

You don't think friends and family back home of tourists who went dark - might have reported it to international media? Be realistic, it's very unlikely there are masses of deaths anywhere approaching the scale or Italy.

Except neither instituted quarantine measures early, while Wuhan did. I'm sure China did lie, but the numbers aren't telling us they had to have been lying. Germany is having much better than expected mortality outcomes. The numbers coming out of Wuhan were horrific. To me there's not a world of difference between horrific, and really horrific. Both should have garnered a serious response from other countries.

Making money from their business interests. Sad to say, but one of the largest commercial  groups in Thailand is its official and unofficial military commercial network.

Germany' initial outcomes reflect the group that was first infected: Under age 50's. All initial infections were related to young people and families who had gone to Austria, Italy and Switzerland for a ski holiday. They came back sick. German numbers are growing now.

There are  huge differences between Germany and China: The health care system and education, health literacy, health awareness. You feel sick you go check. Insurance pays. In China u go to check if you are very sick already and there is no way to wait longer....In other words, in Germany much more infected people were in hospitals for checking and were found than in China. One more difference seems to be that China has isolated their sick and has not really treated most of them, many recovered and many died. In Germany you do get treatment, you will put into ICU to save your life. If you look at the average age of dead people in China you will be surprized to learn 52years! In Europe the average is around 79years. Why? Because the younger ones could be sucsessfully saved in Germany and they survived while in China they let them die!

true. too late. they can't stop a huge outbreak, just can deny it.

That's basically what I'm saying - there are country dependent outcomes, making it plausible China's numbers are close to reality. If they had their <deleted> together, the numbers could have looked even better, leaving the rest of the world even less prepared.

So, the wife's niece's dad who just popped his clogs at the city hospital due to 'complications from diabetes' was actually a Covid-19 victim?

Awesome coverup. They even blackened his legs and amputated one of them to make it look even more convincing.

You Thai government conspiracy theorists need to try harder.

Yep, we just past the half way mark of the pandemic timeline wise (assuming social distancing fails horribly).

My original table of exponential growth between patient zero and everyone on earth being infected... we have reached the midpoint (1 to 7 billion based on exponential growth curve - halfway point is around 300,000 infected).  Given a continuing growth curve being the same... that would mean another 2 to 3 months til everyone infected.  Isn't math grand!

It's an issue of no Thai person wanting to directly confront another one on the (longstanding, cultural) policy of everyone eating out of the same dish. Unless whomever has the highest social status at each of these dinners/events somehow announces that that's how it should be done, it won't be done. So far, the weak announcements on television aren't working to change this.

Will you sponsor the thousands of unemployed workers of closed down shopping centers from your savings ?
Don't think so ...

No, but the government could cut back the multi billion baht defense budget, instead of buying useless hardware and submarines, paying hundreds if not thousands of commanders/generals, cut the conscripted soldiers level in half and god know what else, they could offer free testing everywhere, free medical treatment and help the unemployed.

maybe this is the only benefit the military goverment has

if you are able to make a coup, and just blindly follow orders all your life without thinking

you should be able to lock down a country

I’m out Tuesday. With any luck I might just make it before the closedown.

Good luck, and I should imagine you'll make it if flying tommmorow. I fly Friday (EVA air) but at the pace things are going with developments, who knows. It was already cancelled once and this reschedule was the earliest they have. I have continued to research things such as extensions etc incase it doesn't go ahead. Emirates was the other option if that fell through. Now that option has been removed. Friday is a long and now underlyingly anxious 4 days away.

That's just rediculous. Did you not see the word pneuminia in my post. The first and 'only' death here they were talking about the patient having dengue fever.

Some off topic posts have been removed.

When I read “some” instead of “all”, it clearly shows the total immaturity and lack of responsibility of the local administration. Thousands are now dying in Europe because they did not follow the very drastic steps the propagator

(eg China) took. They created the problem, but let’s respect the solution they brought. Unfortunately, Thailand seems to have not Yet understood it.

I was thinking the same a few days ago about changing it sooner but it would of meant paying for another ticket and in the end I decided to take the chance. I’m flying EVA to, it was also cancelled once. I see tomorrow is still around £600.

Friday seems a long way off the way things are developing here but I wish you well.

188 new cases, that's laughable, you'll never catch up europe at this rate, try again tomorrow.
