If you have ever taken ya-bah you will know that logical thought and rational decisions go out the window. I suspect he will be very sorry this morning when he wakes up!

Sad story indeed. I need to say here in kanchanaburi, nongya the local orbator office sent out people (secretary) to make sure people had food (specifically the poor). They only went to family and friends of the secretary! So disgracefull. None of the poor people got any food from what i saw. These people need to be taken care of because they are taking all the government handouts for themselves. Skimming off projects, projects given to family and friends, land given ilegally and sold to friends and family, old people pensions skimmed and less given and these idiots kids end up in the same job position doing the same thing. The way i see it, is if there were no local governments the people would be doing better and these scumbags would be suffering.

I used to look after an elderly crippled women and her grandchild after the husband died but clearly people didnt like it and we were bullied away becaus eit was too close to the illegal operations taking place by these idiots. She was forced to leave by local government people and friends of because they were scarred we were going to take the mayor to court and she would be witness and we were most definately going to do so and probably still will. This is what Thailand truly is people!!

For sure . I have friends that only stay out of prison a few months before life gets on top of them and they want a simpler life of 3 meals a day and a bed . It’s sad!

If you got rid of the government the void would be filled by other greedy selfish people . It’s a bit like when a gang of drug dealers get taken down ... that void is filled by other drug dealers in a matter of hours .

Very sad story. I would hazard a guess he applied for the 5,000 a month and was rejected. Hungry and desperate he has done something appalling, which will keep him at least fed and housed for now. I wish him better fortune when he gets out and this has hopefully passed us by.

It was only one tablet your making it sound like he had a bag full, not going to lock him up for one tablet

Incorrect. Any drugs whatsoever means jail time or if you are super lucky, a fine, and if you can't pay the fine you do the jail time instead.

The drug laws here are extremely harsh. You will be in jail here longer for an ounce of Ya ice, than you would for murdering someone. And in the west, we don't consider an ounce to be a large amount.

For the amount it costs to process the arrest go to court transfer to prison pay for the prison to house him for 45 days they are obviously to greedy for their jobs to be to concerned about such minor details as the absurdity of doing this.Would be cheaper to just feed him for the duration.

It turns out he wants to go home but cant leave and his mother cannot come to get him so now he has no money and no work he was working a an electrician Was just on the Thai TV about him

Desperate times, desperate measures... More mental health problems, suicides, crime... Let's hope the economy can get back to some kind of normality sooner rather than later.

  • Popular Post

He won't be going to prison. They police just arrested him for his own safety and no charges will be laid against him. Many people in Thai society are working to help him out.

Don't have to worry.

Another very sad story. But I do hope the police try to find out where he got the illegal drugs from and make an arrest. It doesn't seem right that drug dealers are profiting at this time of immense hardship.

Strange story. All over Chalong, there are as I can see thousands of bags containing food and bottled water being given away. Long lines of people on the streets, and in public markets. Been going on for many days. Perhaps he needed a bed somewhere... And he must be a very shy individual. Absolutely certain that if someone would knock on just about any door, asking for food, that food would gladly be given. And I do hope that I am not wrong here....

I could easily feed a number of people for a good while...  Wish I knew where and when.

Not much information available in English.

I know how he feels - a bit. I'm currently staying in a small bed and breakfast in the uk. The room is 8 x 7 ft with double bed in the middle. No cooker, no microwave, so not hot food. No garden. No library, and paying all day to sit in a box. It's tempting sometimes to get put in prison to get a larger living space, hot meals, books, more exercise and get it for free  !

Your assuming he was high, if he was high the last thing he would be thinking of would be food. ya-ba kills your appetite. The way i read it (but there is not enough information) is that he had just a pil and took it with him to get arrested instead of being a "normal" user of drugs. It was just a pretext of getting into jail and getting food.

But then again I could be wrong as the article does not say either way. But they do not mention him being under the influence.

Yes, and in a starved state he had only one thing on his mind - food. There were no thoughts of anything else, such as consequences etc.

In a starved state he would have been extremely low on energy and his brain function severely compromised. The police officers did not want to take him into custody, but did it to save him from doing harm ie. suicide.

I'll doubt a court will convict him of a drug offense. It's more likely they will facilitate a reunion with his family.

i was only thinking this yesterday, not a bad idea for some thais, they are scrambling around for food from the general public, i see nothing from the govt, go to jail where you will get fed at least

Well, supposedly, the dogs are starving at the temples. So I guess he thought..."not much hope for me at the temple."

This also happens in Canada, but sometimes it's a bit more difficult to so so here. TRUE STORY.....a coupla years ago I was downtown, standing beside my truck talking to two of the "city's finest." They were telling me I should move my pickup, or they would give me a ticket. A young fellow showed up with a bad of "goodies." He showed it to the cops, and asked what they were going to do about it. They told him they would give him AN HOUR to SELL his drugs, or they would haul his ass off to jail. Then they walked away. The young man shrugged his shoulders, looked at me and ambled on up the street. It was really cold, and he wasn't wearing much clothes. I told him, better luck next time...and moved my truck.

The poor are the victims of drug laws. The rich prosper.
