webfact Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Video: Ninety two year old Thai driver knocked out in road rage incident in Chachoengsao vide screenshot Channel 7 news reported on a case getting a huge amount of attention on Thai social media. A CCTV clip showed a man in a car reversing onto a road and into the front of a pick-up. The pick-up driver soon gets out and an altercation takes place. The old man is assaulted in the face and knocked unconscious to the tarmac. It emerged that he is a 92 year old retired civil servant Bancha. He is now battling for his life in hospital. He remains unconscious with a brain hemorrhage. Bang Nam Priaw police in Chachoengsao said that the assailant came into the station on Thursday, the day after the incident. The police were tight lipped about what they were doing but suggested this would result in a criminal prosecution. One that could not be settled with a wai. Witnesses said that the old man was reversing very slowly due to his old age and this angered the pick-up driver. A hooting of horns was a precursor for the violence. Popular Post keith101 Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 Maybe he would not have gotten so angry if the old man hadn't backed into him a second time and i can just imagine the old man telling the other driver that he should have reversed and let him out after the first time he hit him . 3 7 1 1
Popular Post phetphet Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 A real tough guy. How long before he wants to visit the old boy to wai, and pretend to apologise. 7 1

Maybe if he wasn't such a coward and punk, more like it. You really are finding some excuse for this? Sure can't see ANY rationalization for attacking a 92 year old man, zero. 27 8
Popular Post RJRS1301 Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 Unbelievable aggression, walked off then retaliated. I wonder what charges he will face if the older man fails to fully recover, which at his advanced years is unlikely. Just drives off, what a cavalier attitude to life and limb 5 1
Popular Post scubascuba3 Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 Misleading title to this thread "knocked out" gives the impression the man punched him in the face, in fact he just pushed him away, wasn't particularly aggressive. At 92 being pushed he fell over and hit his head 5 8 2 1
Popular Post Antonymous Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 The pick up driver was not physically threatened, yet he used physical violence against this frail man. After knocking him to the ground he showed no remorse. He made no attempt to help. He then drove away, fleeing the scene. Lock him up and throw away the key. Never thought I'd see myself saying that, but I'm just too angry to see this behaviour. 22 2

Popular Post OnTheGround Posted April 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2020 The push wasn't very violent, but unnecessary, and the outcome for a 92 year old can be fatal. Prosecute him, and hand him a long sentence behind bars. In Thai culture, out most respect for old people is basic rule. This punk lack respect for his own culture and norms. 12

Get out look at the front of his truck. No damage just wai and drive away. But no. Thinks he is some kind of arbiter. 2 1
Surelynot Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I can see why the wife goes ballistic if toot the horn is give the finger whilst driving (not at her), guess she knows what the consequences might be. 1

Somtamnication Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 So very sad. The video shows that he bumped the truck slightly. Not worth a future murder charge. Thainess exists no more. 1

There are so many people with mental disorders who aren't able to seek the professional treatment they need because it would be a loss of face to their family. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to deal with the after affects of people with these disorders whether its in the workplace, out in public, or wherever.

Ditto. And after seeing vids of Thais pulling knives and machettes and guns after 'road rage' I listened and did what she said - always. Wise move for all Expats - never argue with a Thai in a car - could be son of Police/Politician or even Mafia and could have a weapon. 1 1

Because it looks to me as the old man was knocked to the ground immediately, he didn't stagger back and lose his balance. 2 1
Metropolitian Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Impound the pickup for "double parking" , sell it stateside and the money goes to the old man to help pay the hospital. The man, keep him in jail for attempting (still) murder cleaning the toilets with broken bumguns. What a <beep>. Hope the old man recovers and can enjoy his last years without brain damage. 1

Anyone who thinks that video shows "unbelievable aggression" i hope would never be on a jury 2 1
Henryford Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 These guys are such cowards. Hit a 92 year old but wouldn't try it with someone who could hit back.

Objection denied. 2 1
