The actor is known for his love of flying

Harrison Ford is being investigated by US aviation regulators after his plane wrongly crossed a runway as another aircraft was taking off.

It is the latest piloting close-call for the 77-year-old Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor.

The incident took place at the small Hawthorne Airport in Los Angeles on Friday with Ford at the controls of his yellow two-seater Aviat Husky plane.

In a statement to Sky News, his spokeswoman said: "Mr Ford crossed the airport's only runway in his aircraft after he misheard a radio instruction from air traffic control. He immediately acknowledged the mistake and apologised to ATC for the error.

He needs to be grounded and licence revoked, once was bad enough but twice proves hes gotten too old to fly and is now just  irresponsible and dangerous....

This kind of thing happens constantly, often with commercial pilots flying planes with hundreds of people on board. The amount of human error when it comes to piloting would boggle your mind. Give the guy a break. Do you know how many flights a day Hawthorne Airport handles? It is a very small municipal airport with only one runway, and the chances of another plane being on that runway when he crossed it is ridiculously small. Harrison is a very skilled pilot. Yes, there was one other incident, but he owns seven planes, including a jet, and a helicopter. He flies alot, and rarely uses pilots to fly him around.

First he lands on a runway embarrassing and deadly and now this?

I thought it was a taxiway, or was that a fairway?

Han Solo he is NOT and never has been...just played him on the silver screen. Time to ground him before he kills himself, or worse...others. :1zgarz5:

He has crashed his plane twice and also 2 other incidents. A great actor but now is the time to relax at home in your chair.

But in the airlines we always have another set of eyes in the cockpit. On long-haul up to two more sets for takeoff, initial  climb,  approach landing, and taxiing. Still as you said there are errors. He is 77. Maybe not time to hang it up but how about fly with a safety pilot? Young guys building hours as CFI would be happy to join him!

Probably a very good idea, especially when flying the jet. He sure could afford it!

What kind of jet does he have? Most require a min crew of two.

(I don't support working for free for ethical reasons but there are guys who need hours who would.)

Appears to be a Cessna Citation Sovereign. Worth about $18 million. He also has about seven other planes. No idea if he uses a co-pilot on this one, but I think you are right. Would be a good idea. It is likely he does. According to this article he was using one for this flight, at least.

The actor, 74, was seen boarding a plane at the Santa Monica Airport on Thursday. Ford, who was joined by a co-pilot, took the captain’s seat of the Cessna 680 two-engine jet.

I like the Honda Jet. Single pilot certified, but Not enough range for me. I need to get from LAX to CNX with just one fuel stop.???? .

New Gulfstream can do SFO-CNX Nonstop. Too bad it is sold out to 2023. $75 mil
