Eighty year old Frenchman arrested on Pattaya beach - wife goes to her MP, police chief says he's busy

The Thai wife of an 80 year old Frenchman who was taken into Pattaya police station after violating Covid-19 beach restrictions has appealed to her MP for help.

Dao Duangpim, 42, said she had been grilled for four hours during an investigation in to the case ordered by the chief of Chonburi police.

But she felt that she had not received any justice. She accepted that her husband was in the wrong but was concerned that his passport had been taken and she was not allowed to get a photocopy.

She told Chonburi Region 7 MP Kawinnat Takhee that the cops were rude to her and she had not had a proper explanation as to why they charged her 2,000 baht to take them back home during the curfew.

She wanted the MP and her legal team to help press the matter as she was very dissatisfied.

The MP said this was a very bad case for the image of Pattaya and she agreed to take it up with the chief of police in Pattaya.

She called him but he said he was busy.

Nevertheless she intends to go there and get some answers some time this week, reported Pattaya Update News.

I'd ask the MP just how many Thais had been charged 50,000 baht for the same offence or has everyone targeted been a farang ?

Fairly predictable. It seems preventing dodgy behaviour by his officers is not a priority.

Good luck to her. These crooks fall apart fast under media scrutiny.

The cops won't be getting their usual gift, so any opportunities will be gobbled up.

Brave wife who stays by her man and continue her fight for the truth.

With help from Chonburi

Region 7 MP Kawinnat Takhee, the investigation has to continue.

Chonburi Police was also involved days ago, urging Pattaya police to investigate. Failing to do this, a reshuffle among high rank Pattaya plod might be coming soon.

So the Pattaya police chief was busy, yes busy covering up the wrong doings of officers under him.

Keep it up clowns, Pattaya was going seriously downhill before the virus.

Now it will never get back to what it was, so plod are screwing money out of anyone they can... Sick.

Right, I wonder how long they've been married.

Once again, why should the length of their marriage to you?

I am 76 this month and 21 years older than my wife.

We have been married for 20 years last month and I knew her for 7 years before that.

Did she forget that the Thai police is working only for money.

Nobody should complain again about high taxi prices.

His passport is property of State of French.

So, wake up Embassy! Police of Pattaya stealing French property.

These Soi 9 thieves are well known.

What do you expect from Pattaya. It's always been like this.  The long time ago I bought a hotel in Pattaya.  I was checking all the inventory and goods and was arrested by a Labor Department official for working without a permit. I was treated very badly and he suggested a bribe to clear up the matter. Unfortunately for him he didn't realise who my Thai partner was.

The next morning he came in a taxi from Chonburi to the hotel with my work permit and bowed very low asking me for forgiveness. I wasn't even working in the hotel and I didn't need a work permit. But he gave me one anyway.

Can see the headlines "80 year old French tourist found dead" suicide!

Busy.....counting yesterdays takings,it's a lot of work.

regards worgeordie

Wasn,t there a MUCH larger sum of money that changed hands here, with no receipt given ? That,s what I would be concerned about ????
