QR code. now at local 7/11

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

For a few months now my (favorite) local 7 has had temperatures taken and hand gel + mandatory mask to enter.

Today, they now have the above PLUS the new data collection QR code system as well.

I told the girl (same girl every day, every hour for weeks) I don't/can't do QR code, so had to sign in with name and mobile number (same pen and pad used by dozens).

And sign out again.

So now the data collectors have a fictitious mobile number for Mr Mickey Mouse in my locale.

Its so easy just to scan it with the line ap.. In and out.. and then they have times too so they dont have to contact you unless it is really needed. The list you do manually is not as good as it does not register a time in and out.

Today:  1) 7/11 QR Code in and out to buy a bottle of water 2) QR Code In at the mall 3) QR code in at the restaurant inside of the mall and then QR Code out of the restaurant 4) QR Code in at the supermarket and then QR Code Out from the supermarket.  5) QR Code out of the Mall. So far no QR code to get into my apartment(at least not yet).  The New Normal- QR Code or Sing in.

That's what I do too.

for now

I tried using the QR code to enter a shopping mall today. I don't have internet access on my phone so does that mean it doesn't work with internet?

So I just wrote my details on the log book. I don't know what's the point if nobody checks whether the info is correct or not.

They should at least give us a step by step instruction on how to use this QR code thing.

I should be more concerned by the potential infected same pen used by hundreds of people to sign the form.

Anyway i am not ready to let anybody know where i go and what i do

and i am sure the risk is 1000 far higher to be contacted for some ''promotions''

from the shops using the data than for someone infected by the virus in the shop at

the same time than me

(65 millions of Thais, 56 deads so far in 3 months, i am not that paranoid sorry)

Then for now i avoid every shop where the data collect is mandatory

anyway the malls are not a necessity at all for me, they were closed

during 2 months and i have hardly noticed the closure

As long as you stay away then good for you. People not staying away and refusing are stupid.

As for the corvid rates I dont believe them. I do believe the risk is not high but registration can help to curb it before it gets too bad.

Sir you do know by using the QR code you could potentially be quarantined for 2 weeks just for happen to being at the mall at the same time as some person who you did not even know....

If it concerns you that much why not just write a false name and number in the log book at entry ?

No it won't.

You don't see the Thais (the main customer base) bleating like children.

Just go in  and write down your details and tell them you don't have a smart phone.

That's because a lot of them are placid and not educated to think for themselves. It's easier for them to blindly obay any rules imposed on them from high up, without question of motives or effectiveness.

If you live here you should know it's their culture not to question anyone above them in the social ladder, or cause any loss of face. They must know their place.

They have no way to track anyway.  The paperwork is often not dated or timed (my local Tesco and Big C) and where do you think it all goes and who is collating all that data in thousands of locations, the answer is nobody.  It's a meaningless and stupid public relations exercise, nothing more.

That is an option, and could be even some fun, depending on the name you choose.

Nevertheless, I prefer to support the ones not forcing it on me. And I think we should not let surveillance sneak in through the back door, no matter under which excuse it is hidden. So I vote by not going where I get forced to sign in.

And another thing, 7/11 killed a lot of small family businesses, I like to support the remaining ones them by buying there.

Ive just been in the 7/11 no need for the QR code just write your name and number, I asked the girl how many people have used that same pen? Blank look,

The girl who served me her gloves looked like she had just done an oil change waste of time saying anything you get that vacant look

I was assuming most Thais are scanning the QR code until today when I went shopping with a bunch of Thais. Lets just say they are going through the motions.
