Selfie warning: This is what happened when Thai man stopped to take one

A man from Phrae in the north of Thailand was so impressed with the beautiful view at some reservoir works that he stopped and got out with his friends to take some selfies.

His Mazda pick-up would be alright with the handbrake on even though the engine was running and it was on a slope, wouldn't it?

No.

Moments later "Ray", 52, (an assumed name) looked on in horror as his prized vehicle plummeted 40 meters down into the Mae Khaem creek.

Local police, officials and workers in the reservoir excavation area helped to get the wreckage out amid fears it would simply be washed away in the rains.

But Thai Rath reported there was not much left of the pick-up after the incident on Sunday evening.

They issued a warning: Please check your surroundings when taking a selfie.

Brake failure no deaths or injuries

Actually, this has nothing to do with selfies at all. It's just a case of lack of common sense when using a motor vehicle, which is so incredibly rife in this country that it hurts.

Should have reported that the pickup had been compressed to the size of a Volkswagen Beetle (or smaller car). It may not have all been there, but most of it was.

Not sure about that. May be a new lockdown is necessary?

20 years before,

people take nice pictures (eg sunset, beach...).

But now,

always have a stupid people/face on the picture, hide most of the interesting (or just make not interesting) that have behind.

It's just narcissistic, nothing nice/interesting  !

When they take picture of food, do they put their hand in front ?

Also don't micro sleep when taking a selfie ????

But Thais do love trying to achieve it.

At anytime when leaving any vehicle, first check,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh, never mind

Dropping your car into a ravine to get media attention is a bit extreme. Still, whatever turns you on. I expected to see a picture of him sitting on top of the pick-up, smiling.
