Can anyone confirm that a "filled in on the PC" version is acceptable with signature and date in blue ink  at Jomtien Immigration    or do I have print off the blank form and then   complete the form in blue ink by hand ?

Sorry, would have tried to beat that 3 minutes but I was tied up refuting someone else on another thread.

I will try to beat tgw's speedy response next time.

Note one thing however. Apparently Jomtien likes the TM.7 on 2 separate pages, not one page (printed on the front and back).

Not sure why. I did it one year both ways just to be safe and sure enough, they wanted to the 2 page version, not the single. Maybe so the photo doesn't end up underneath the paperwork or something.

Just for information

you just cannot win can you?

went to Jomtien Immi  this morning with everything plus some things I knew they wouldn't want like yellow book, too many photos , 2 x sets of the older forms (just in case)  and pink ID card

All was going Ok and the young man receiving my  applications  in full police uniform with gun on hip, was charming and smiling.

Then he he looked at the date for renewal of my extension  which was for the 7th of August and said  "Too early, come back next Wednesday"

I answered that on the web it said that I could renew 45 days early, He replied no, only within 30 days.

The good thing was He checked the application and said all  was ok, so now I will have to get new bank letter and statements next week.

And don't forget to write your phone number on the form, there's no box for that but they always want it.

Somchai's law of soddery applies, though, wherever you put it on the form they will want you to write it somewhere else, lol!

I renewed at Jomtien a couple of weeks ago.  As always, I completed the TM.7 form on the computer and printed it out - two separate pages - signed both pages and wrote my telephone number on the 2nd page below my /s/.  Also, as always, I handed the Immigration Officer the photo and she put it on the form.  Additional documents provided were:

Original passport and photocopies of identity page and pages showing transfer stamps from old passport, all previous extension stamps, and last entry stamp.  Also a copy of the TM.6 departure card.

Since I use the 65k monthly income method and no certification letter (from USA), I had the required two bank letters (one confirming the account and the other listing my foreign source deposits for the preceding 12 months). Original bank book and photocopies of required pages (name page and pages showing activity for the preceding 12 months). Also included my pension annuity statement showing monthly pension amount.

A copy of my Lease Agreement to show residence with copy of landlord's ID card and housebook.

All photocopies signed.

In at 9:30am, no wait as my queue number was being called (#805) when I arrived at Desk 8.  The Immigration Officer took all the above, spent about 5+ minutes going through it, all in order.  She then had me sign two documents (acknowledgement that if any change in status was to be reported to Immigration and the penalties for overstay).  She then took my photo and collected the 1,900 baht fee and gave my a "claim check" and told to return the next day after 2pm to pick up my passport. On my way out after about 15 minutes.

I picked up my passport with extension for another year.  I also opted to do my 90 day reporting - it was due at end of April, but not done previously because of amnesty.

Everytime I have taken a PC completed TM7 to Jomtien they have asked me to complete their own 2sided form on the spot. I presume they want to be sure I have completed it and no one has done it for me rather like the map

Are they asking Non O-A renewal applicants to show proof of insurance?

Yes, when you apply for the 1-year extension of stay based on your original Non Imm O-A Visa and you do this for reason of RETIREMENT, a thai IO-approved health-insurance policy issued by a TGIA associated insurer is mandatory.

I have always given Jomtien the TM 7 on one peice of paper front & back never a problem

You don't have to write the date by hand.

You obviously look shady !!

Only joking. Must say it’s never happened to me and I always go with the pre filled  PC Forms. Still there’s always next time...555

I did my marriage extension last month.  I printed off the online form, and the "nice" lady crossed them through with her pen, and said "wrong form". I politely informed her that the form was the one that I had downloaded. "Wrong form. Get new ones from reception".  Which I did. Exactly the same form, word for word, but in a different font !

I submitted two-sided forms, and the "new" forms at reception are also two-sided.

The rules are clear:

- On even days of the month the TM7 is only accepted when on 2 pieces of paper;

- On uneven days of the month it needs to be on 1 piece of paper (front-back);

- On any other day it is up to the discretion of the officer handling your case.

For the past 10+ years that I have been doing my annual extension renewals at Jomtien Immigration, I have always used a printed TM.7 that I filled in on my computer before printing. Further, I have always submitted it as two separate pages rather than front & back.  It has always been accepted.

Considering the posts by others that this was not the case, caused me wonder if it may be because retirement extensions and marriage extensions are handled by different desks - thus different Immigration desks and Immigration Officers may be the reason (rather than the day odd/even days as mentioned ???? 555 - always nice to have a little humor).  Of course that is trying to apply logic forgetting that this is Thailand.

Peter also responded re the question about the need for health insurance for OA Visa holders:

Quote

Absolutely correct!  A close friend went in early June to renew his extension as usual found this to be the case  - his underlying Visa on which his extensions for the past 10 years had been approved is a Non-Immigrant OA obtained in Australia.  Although he did have health insurance from one of the listed Thai companies, they wanted a letter stating it complied with the requirements (400k inpatient & 40k outpatient coverage).   However, his policy did not comply as it had 1 million in inpatient cover, it did not have any outpatient cover.

To get the outpatient cover, he had to get a new policy that included the outpatient cover at an increased premium, of course.  Also, the policy period had to coincide with his annual extension period.  His insurance rep suggested the new policy period should be from July 3 (day before his due date).  He rec'd the appropriate letter and took it to Immigration. Although they now accepted his application, they changed his next due date to July 3, 2021 instead of July 4 as it has previously been.

Also, he mentioned to me that when his insurance company issued his new policy, they excluded certain "pre-existing" conditions from his outpatient cover. These conditions remained covered for inpatient treatment as they all had happened after he had his previous inpatient only policy.

Indeed. I've always filled them out on my computer, printed them (on 2 pages) and then saved the doc with the new date. I've got the last 5 years worth of TM.7 and TM.8 applications saved (for no real reason I suppose) as well as assorted scans of other docs/photos.

Never a problem. I do wish they'd give me access to an unprotected copy though so I could fix some of the formatting errors they've got in there. Really annoying when you tab to one block and it's in 10 pt and the next one is in 16 and the next in 12 and so on.

I supposed I could spend a few hours copying/pasting text from the current doc to a new one and then making the text blocks uniform in formatting.

Or not. As long as they are happy with the one they supply, why bother ?

I have for years used Form 7 filled in using my computer. Just my signatures by hand. I have had every person working at desk 8 going through my stack of papers without any complaints what so ever. On the second page you must even fill in the name and address of the person who wrote the application and sign it, usually yourself. So,why would they not accept Form 7 filled in using a computer? I just have to change the date and age on my saved form 7 for next years application. Can't get easier.

Yeah, I almost forgot to change my age this year. Was just about to hit print and was giving the edited blocks a once over and noticed I hadn't changed it.

I usually write my phone number just above or just below where I sign. They seem happy as long as it is near the signature.

You'd think they'd prefer the computer versions as I know there are a lot of people out there who have a hard time printing anything "neatly" or legibly. Also, harder to "fudge" the name/spelling if it's typed in instead of sloppily printed.
