Senior drug enforcement police, provincial and city officers took part in raids on five buildings in the downtown Hua Hin area yesterday.

Nine arrests were made and 66 top of the range computers and other equipment were seized.

It was an online gambling operation advertised through "Rich Idea".

That company name was a front for the business operating out of business premises in the downtown area by a klong.

This was connected to www.mafia.com that has 43 illegal betting sites on its books.

The inquiry is being expanded to see who is behind the operation and if there are any corrupt police or local officials involved.

The turnover of the business was said to be 100s of millions of baht per month.

'a klong'  Must be some sort of foreigner, perhaps something like a klingon?

I think it would be a fair guess to say that perhaps a blind eye or more were paid to look the other way.
