the 50 baht is not the point , it was the attitude of the manager.

did read my post properly?

I used to be like you, creating a drama when i feel scammed even if it was even couple of baht. Nothing good comes of it and i regret it very much. now i am like whatever and people like me more.

What if you wasted 50bht with every purchase you made in your life?

I drive a bit further (200m) to save 4bht on a bottle of wine cooler.

That's 12bht a day = 360bht a month (or another 12 wine coolers).

There are those who are foolish with money and those that are careful.

Nice if you're so wealthy that it doesn't matter, but most of us don't have that advantage in life.

I find those who do the 'farang pub' particularly foolish.

Small beer 140bht Vs 'Thai pub' large beer 80bht.

Why?

Is the company of white pensioners and 70s rock music so important to you?

I prefer the company of the Thai university beer girls, as well as the cheaper beer.

But to be honest, now I'm older the 50bht large beers (28bht wine coolers) in my home is more comfortable for me.

I would be worried about liver(3 bottles of wine cooler everyday??) instead of 4 baht

It's about customer service, something that lacks in Thailand, after the bar closures you would think that they would try to make people happy and not treat them like <deleted>. It's about thai attitude.

Its not about 50 baht.

its about losing a customer in bad times.

Go next door, order a beer and give her a smile.

<deleted> like this never happens in the west.

A manager would never tell anyone to find another place to drink.

I've given up being surprised at posters that think LOS should be the same as whatever <deleted> country they come from.

If people can't understand that a different country is not the same as the <deleted> country they come from they should stay home.

I mostly drink large bottle beers now unless I'm in agogo where i opt for draft but in Pattaya I don't know of these Thai bars you refer to except Thai BBQs where large beers are standard. I know Thai discos but they are a no go zone for 99% of falang. Maybe someone can recommend a decent thai style bar in Pattaya selling large beers?

I've been in a Thai "disco"/ nightclub ( do they still call places discos? ) but most farangs would be unable to pay enough to stay in one for long. They deal with seriously rich Thai youth.

All the ( beer ) bars in Pattaya are run by Thais- ergo they are all Thai style. I doubt one could find similar back in the west.

You buy a whiskey set, bottle with 4 mixers and bucket of ice ....... usually 800-1000bht.

Not expensive if you're with 2-3 other guys.

Or you walk in with a bottle of 'Black label' under your arm and pay corkage plus mixers and ice ..... 500bht.

Even cheaper if it's only the bottle that's 'Black Label' and you've refilled it with something cheaper.

I used to have the cheap whiskey set at 'Hotshots' under the Pornping hotel with a pal every Friday night a while back now, whiskey set was 600bht back in those days. We told the girls that magically appeared at our table, if they wanted more mixers, they had to buy them themselves, we'd drink the poop 'Benmoor' neat. That was in our 'white guy' movie star days, the bouncers would always remember us and let us enter as 'VIPs' without queuing and we had a regular table. One night we turned up and there were hordes of Thais outside pushing and shoving, not knowing any Thai we just ignored them and walked in as usual. They pulled the chain aside as normal, we sat down but not at our usual table ..... manager came over (some English) said Takatan was singing there, all the Thais had booked tables which sold out months in advance, it was heaving, we could see the door and the crush of girls trying to get in. Pointed at a couple of likely girls and the bouncers let them in to sit at our table, a good night was had by all, 500bht added to our normal bill for the concert table for four. We weren't even big spenders, rarely did we spend 1,000bht at our table (500bht each).

I still remember those days when white guys were 'special', not that long ago, around 2009 or 2010.

I totally empathise with this. I went to the Central Mall yesterday and the smiling security guard who'd always saluted me came up and complained I wasn't wearing a mask!

These people are out of control.

Ein a nutshellven when I explained I was German he would not return to his usually subservient demeanour.

What is happening to this country?!!!!

in a nutshell they don,t want you in their country.

They have loads of those kind of bars/clubs in Phuket.

they were always still open when I was on my way to work back in the day.

usually around 07:30ish.

always some kind of a scuffle going on, usually involving a group of young Thai males and 1 or 2 bar girl types. They all looked like chavs.

never popped in for a drink and probably never will!

Any scuffle in a Thai bar will usually end up with a trip to hospital. Any problem with one thai means you have a problem with all the thais in the bar. Have a good time.

It's strange that you claim it's your "favourite pub" and that you are a "regular customer" but you obviously didn't know the staff, or the manager, and, clearly from your report, you weren't familiar to them either. You couldn't have been that much of a "regular paying customer in your favourite pub"!

Perhaps she wasn't the only one being reluctant, cocky and arrogant if you, effectively, were barred!

i frequent 4 or five bars on a regular basis ,out of these ,two bars are my favourites ,one is my local

i know the manager/bar staff/owner/owners wife and son/about 15 other people from many countries

who also frequent the bar on a regular basis. The staff and manager/owner allways say hello. (there is no manager at present the owner's wife does that roll), in all the other bars the managers/staff know me and we normaly nod or smile to acknowledge each other there is a quite large turnover of staff at some of these bars, but i cannot remember ever in 18 years being told do not come back.

i have also apart from you i have never heard of any one being told to '' Do One '' after inquiring  about beer prices from a previous visit. i mean if you were out in a strange place but at your local?????

the story does not hold water lad. That is the reason it is 22 pages people are trying to fathom out what is what, it does not add up.
