They advertise in the police station? Take a photo and post it please.

I do not know about the police station (and I never said so) but take the local newspapers of Pattaya and there you see all sorts of visa "services" ranging between THB 15K-20K for all sorts of visas even if you do not fulfill the rules of minimum money in the bank etc.

It is well known and accepted that for around 20,000/30,000 a retirement extension can be bought, even the deposit is dealt with

it is well known but not accepted by immigration. They are trying to stop it. that's why they have made applicants keep the money in their bank account after they have got their extension. But the practice is so widespread with many immigration officers involved in this corruption that they are having a real hard time wiping it out. I think they will succeed eventually and cancel anyone's Visa extension who paid someone else or an agent to put up the required funds.

Nah! This was about a direct bribe for a Wp favour! Nothing to do with using agents to process retirement extensions. All legit!

The rules state YOU must have a bank acc with the matured money, please show me a link that says otherwise, i have never seen any written rule that says you can use an agent if you don't have the dosh, if not then by definition you are breaking the law.

Surely honest applicants know the financial requirements for for a Visa extension. So they have these requirements when applying for a visa extension and I have never heard of them being cracked down by immigration officials. I have been here long time and I know very many retirees and they never have any real problem whatsoever with immigration. They understand the requirements when they apply. They have absolutely no need of an agent. So I don't really understand your post.

For retirees it is easier - though many still get blocked if using income.  Support a Thai family and it's much, much worse - again, especially if using income to meet the financials.  It is much more likely they will demand proof of the income-source, and many deny income as "legit" - other than "state pensions."

Also add in "unobtainium" landlord-docs, in some offices, which is ONLY demanded of those applying based on supporting a Thai family, in some offices.  "Based on Retirement" don't have to do deal with this, either.

If that was true, it would not be anybody wanting to run that kind of business.

They get a couple thousand baht of the 15K to 50K total-fee.  Multiply that by the stacks of passports they submit with envelopes, and it adds up.

'... ripping their insignia off their uniforms ...'

I witnessed... an army court martial in Vietnam. The NCO was ..found guilty and.. another NCO (Sgt. Major) had to rip his insignia off the shirt sleeves and throw them on the floor.

.................The judge ordered he was to be repatriated to Australia immediately.

It's good to know that transportation is still an sentencing option

Back to the good old days of repopulating Australia with criminals

You should read the article more carefully, it says:

National RTP spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen announced the moves after a virulent Facebook post and video on the page of "Tom Julpas Kruesopon" that made the claim that 20,000 baht needed to be paid to speed up work visas for foreigners.

The 'idiot' is a HiSo Thai, and he complained that he was extorted by the 2 Nonthaburi immigration officer.

Those two officers tried to play the same game on this HISo well-connected Thai that they do on a daily basis with 'stupid farangs', and demanding 20K tea-money to speed up the processing of the work permits of the foreigners employed by that HiSo Thai.

Big Mistake!

Hi- So Thai needs a visa to stay in Thailand? okkkkkkkkkkkkk

Immigration now issues work permits? double okkkkkkkkkkk

just as many cried not having the money or not wanting to keep money in thai bank

just as many cried and screamed when money had to be there for a certain period with proof.

the very same moaners used agents who for a fee fixed all problems.

it is people like you that keep the corruption alive

and honest people with money in the bank have to jump hoops and had to go abroad to get a non-o multi because of these corrupted IO's wanting / forcing you to pay the bribe

Maybe the immigration should consider to speed up their work and efficiency as nobody wants to waste the whole day waiting for queue.

This is why people are willing to splash 20k because their time is worth more than whole day waiting...

As I understand it, the Hi-So thai has foreigners working for him.  Those foreigners need a work-permit and permission to stay from Immigration, and in order to get that cleared those 2 Immigration officers seemingly told him that the fee for getting their extensions and work-permits handled quicker (so that they can start with the work the Hi-So thai hired them for) would be 20.000 THB.

A farang boss would simply have paid in that situation, but a well-connected Hi-So Thai can raise a Big Stink and that's seemingly what happened.

In my district immigration refused to receive

2 bottles of sweet drink (I think they tap it from trees)

Unless it was production line bottled then I don't blame them.

Really, I pay my visa agent each year monies in that order to expedite my visa renewal submission through the IM "Special Process Channel.

So what's the big deal; it's Thailand if you want to get anything done and eliminate frustration, delays and bureaucracy hurdles you pay for it.

It starts at the Tuk-tuk driver all the way up to politicians.

Immigration is under the police and the police is in the interior ministry. So - what's your point?

Read s-l-o-w-l-y   and   c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y, possibly loud and repeatedly, what I wrote!
