‘If you see Vorayuth, arrest him immediately’: Immigration chief

Immigration chief Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang

 

Immigration chief Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang today ordered border checkpoint officers to arrest Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya on sight if he tries to return to Thailand.

 

The order comes after the court accepted three fresh charges against the Red Bull scion over a 2012 hit-and-run killing: reckless driving causing death, failing to help a victim after a crash, and drug use.

 

Sompong added that Immigration police have been monitoring developments closely since news in July that the original case against Vorayuth had been dropped.

 

“I would like to ensure everyone that his warrant has gone into the system,” said Sompong.

 

“Every immigration checkpoint countrywide got my order. If you see Vorayuth, you arrest him immediately.”

 

Immigration police are under pressure from national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda to close the case.

 

Vorayuth fled abroad in 2017 and has since been pictured living a luxury, jet-setting lifestyle.

By granting an ' amnesty ' to Vorayuth , Thailand's reputation in the world would have been damaged as it would have been regarded as a country where the rich influential people can buy their way out of the legal system . That is the only reason just because this case made international headlines . No international headlines , all goes on same normal ...

If Thailand really wanted Vorayuth arrested they’d issue an Interpol Red Notice.

 

No red notice can be found even though it was announced in the Nation that Interpol has published one.

This announcement covers the following.... Media lip service for Immigration Police to announce ‘we are doing our jobs’.....  and ultimately ’now’s not the time to come home Vorayuth, the situation is still sensitive’....

 

Is aiding an abetting.... This facade will go on. Its time the statute of limitations is removed from this case. 

 

The statute of limitations is a ridiculous law anyway, its completely moronic to suggest someone can no longer be charged with a crime (involving a death nonetheless) because ‘time has passed’.

Yeah, that's right! Immediately arrest that bloke... who has been living ABROAD since 2017 (because YOU allowed him to leave unhindered in the first place, I might add).

 

What on earth makes the good immigration chief assume that Vorayuth would even contemplate to be returning anytime soon now that several charges against him have been re-instated? What a charade!

The Thai police and Thai justice system has facilitated Vorayuth living in Thailand for five years after he killed the police officer. Then they facilitated for him to flee abroad.

And this is just one of the many dubious cases where police and prosecution colluded because of a bribe or a connection.

So many places an aircraft can land here. So many aircraft can fly under radar, or perhaps Brown envelope appears in the air traffic controllers mailbox... Maybe land somewhere else and get driven to a border. Not a real border crossing with immigration officers, or perhaps yes, with sufficient inducement to ignore the order...

 

but why would be come back here with all this furore. He  was seen in London. He'll stay there, or go to Dubai, like other rich people who run from Thailand.

You don't understand Thailand. The order has been given so their job is done. Whether it can or will ever happen is entirely irrelevant. They've done the right thing in issuing the order. That's the way it always works in Thailand. Order given, and no-one actually has to do anything at all.
