BANGKOK, Sept 24 (TNA) – Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is visiting Chiang Rai province to chair a meeting for prevention and solution of the wildfire and haze problem.

Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri disclosed that the Prime Minister met provincial governors of the 17 Northern provinces to follow up on the operation to prevent and curb wildfire and haze, and to hand down related policy.

mere hand-waving; they sit there in bangkok, north killing-air doesnt bother them

About as exciting as cutting down banana trees, my wife with her hundreds of facebook and Line friends made no mention of it.

Nothing will change, they don't yet have a committee...

If these politicians were acting seriously they

would come between January and April.

See you then dear Leader of Thailand.

Exactly what will this visit achieve, apart from getting away from the protestors in Bangkok for a while?

Come up in March, so you can breathe the same air your Thai countrymen do.

Didn't he order it to be fixed like a year ago and gave them a week or something?

Ah, no, that was Chiang Mai... remember now... Big difference.

There will be new boys on the block next year so maybe not a bad idea to fly up while the trip is paid by the taxpayer ......... useless anyhow, as we all know

Very convenient to avoid the protesters in Bangkok and, taking the independent and neutral press, the rest is history.

If they would be serious (and they are not as we know) they would depend the approval of the Tesco-Lotus sale on stopping the burning of corn, sugarcane and other fields with immediate effect as 30 years ago the field burning was no issue whatsoever. Took place due to lack of education of the farming folks then.

Now they even close the airports at times due to the excellent visibility of the powers behind burning and, no, it is not the farmers - they just execute like the rest of the flock !

Theater, pure theater representation ... Nothing and nobody will change the course of pollution here in the North.  It's just another antics.

I am ready, after January, drive directión to the southern beaches...like every years, until the smog season dissappear.

Ohh Mr Prayut, go up north, pretend you care about the haze problem , people will love you for that.

It's an easy solution, tell each governor any fires and you're out of a job, I'm sure that would work.

What problem?  He ordered it solved in 2 weeks months ago.

If you cared about the safety of your country and the people your esteemed exultancy chief of everything, then buy heaps of harvesting equipment Thai made are 6million baht double that for overseas ones to help solve the problem, and stop spending money on useless subs, etc, which only helps your cohorts enrich themselves. What happened to the requested budget of 6 BILLION last year? that one thousand harvesters + producing more employment in manufacturing. stupid old fool!

Wild fires?  more like wild crop farmers constantly breaking the law and nothing being done to stop it.

Genuine leadership and governance is required URGENTLY

A can of air freshener should do the trick uncle????

what haze problem, beautiful blue skies today.  i told you it would blow away

You mean spraying water in the air, and building a big air cleaner didn't work?
