Car Brake Calipers Painting BKK or Pattaya ? or DIY calipers paint ?

Recommended Posts

hi,

do you know a place to paint your brake calipers around BKK or Pattaya ?

I know it's nothing to do but with the level of knowledge here, I better find a place where they know what kind of paint to use, it's for a sport car, not a toyota.

and if you did it yourself, can you direct me to the paint that you used ?

thank you.

There is caliper paint out there, there is also exhaust paint, both can deal with heat.

As mentioned, you can buy caliper covers, think 700bht the pair fitted, we have them on her Suzuki, they look OK and look like a caliper upgrade. But, if you already have top-notch calipers then paint is for you...

Many different colors.

Thank you but painting is also to protect them from rust. Actually I want them black, not fancy, and most of all I want to protect them from rust.

I think you should look at powder coating rather than paint it's far more durable alternatively hammerite if you want to take the cheaper option

To be honest, I haven't seen many rusty brake calipers here in Thailand. Maybe that's more of an issue in cooler, damper climes or those countries that use salt on winter roads?

If necessary, I think the powder coating method would be the best solution. There's a shop just north of the main Naklua traffic lights on Sukhumvit (Highway 3) outside Pattaya that did bike frames, wheel rims and the like. Not sure if this google map location is totally accurate or maybe hasn't been updated?

I think it's called Pattaya Powder Coating. https://th-th.facebook.com/PattayaPowderCoating

Which is also trading as Mixed Bikes. https://www.facebook.com/MIXEDBIKES/?rf=222829495298305

Thank you but I don't want to remove the parts to put them in oven.

As you said painting is more than enough, so why the trouble of powder coating ?

Cheers, do you think that painting (coating) a bird cage with this process would avoid rust definitively ? and how much it would cost ?

Powder coating is best for lower components of a vehicle. It's a more robust coating and nowadays most calipers have been powder coated. Drums, not so much. It's likely that your calipers haven't been finished to a standard that would accept a gloss finish.

Whatever coating you choose. the surfaces need to be prepared in order to accept that coating. Paint won't necessitate complete removal of the calipers. But overspray could be an issue and look unsightly. Additionally, the new paint may not take properly and look bad in the near future.

Finishing and powder coat would mean you have to remove (and strip) the calipers then send them to a workshop for processing. Meaning your vehicle is off-road for a while and subsequently the calipers and brakes would need to be: re-assembled and bled.

Haven't had experience of 'caliper covers' or 'copies' of renowned brands. Other than they're an obvious fake. If I was to choose one, it would be the the covers. The copies could have serious issues.
