French Woman Contracted COVID after Quarantine

BANGKOK, Oct 24 (TNA) – The Department of Disease Control admitted that a French woman contracted the novel coronavirus after her 14-day quarantine and her case possibly showed local infection.

Dr Sophon Iamsirithaworn, director of general communicable diseases at the department, said the French woman aged 57 arrived from Limoges together with her husband and son on Sept 30 on the TG933 flight of Thai Airways International.

They stayed at an alternative state quarantine facility in Samut Prakan province for 14 days and tested negative twice.

What a surprise, must be loads of positives walking around, but it was a mild infection for the French woman.

It is either this or admit that the quarantine program and all of the testing is ineffective and has been giant waste.

If you've paid attention, Thai health authorities have always said the virus is out there.  Undetected.  And this is a case that just popped up, it came from a person who had just been in a 2 week quarantine.  Get it?  A bit different.

It's a con. Announcement tomorrow will be that she caught it in Bangkok. Annoucement the next day, Bangkok goes into lockdown with 7pm curfew.

Oh what a shame, those protesters will have to stay at home. As Prayout says, "There's more than one way to skin a student".

I find this hard to believe, she left quarantine and had symptoms on the 2nd day, it is generally accepted the it takes at least 4 days after infection to even test positive never mind show symptoms, IMO their super duper quarantine failed, but they wouldn't want to admit that, next we will hear that she caught it from another French national when she visited the French Embassy

For all we know this woman could an anomaly of nature or who ever was suppose to check her didn't do their job properly or at all. or.. or.. or.. who really knows what is going on for sure? no body...

Actually she was in quarantine at Samut Prakan and the source that can not be quoted reports covid virus has been found on an exercise machine in that hotel.

Spot on.

They cannot admit that the quarantine system is flawed.

Covid can linger on surfaces for weeks. Are the cleaners really that good?

If the 68 million plus people living in Thailand has not been tested for COVID 19 then..... it should be assumed EVERYONE HAS COVID 19!!!! Like Germany no one has been tested here... even then Germany looks like it is heading for WAVE 2!!!

why;

Thailand ; 3,731 cases, 53 deaths   tests; 977, 854
Malaysia; 25, 742 cases, 7 deaths  1,989,231 tests
Burma'; 43,788   over 1,000 deaths  594,151 tests
Laos; 24 cases, 00 deaths  62,474 tests
Cambodia; 287  00 deaths  172, 232 tests

HMMM, could trump be right??  if you dont test... no cases, no deaths

How fortunate isn't that and what a relief that there is no covid out in the free..

Jabba-dabba-doo ????

For some people it can take up to 3 weeks to test positive and the quarantine is only 2 weeks. So why are Thailand planning to reduce the quarantine to 10 or maybe even as low as 7 days? This french woman could possibly have caught the virus before departure from France.

What happens when 7 billion people have covid and Thailand is still saying zero cases? What would that mean?

It would mean that world population more than 3-folded

no thailand no have covis. thailand number 1. wear mask ride alone on motorcye. thai not do same stupid farang country. not follow rule. not together fight covis. why farang not want stop covis.

Farang want to stop the Chinese Wuhan virus.

Badly.

That is why they go into very expensive quarantine to prove they are clean and then to get the virus as soon as they are released.

But I guess, seen all the demonstrators, pro & contra and the unhindered entrance of "visitors" from neighbouring countries I doubt the Thai are not very serious.

Don't blame the farang for something also happening, sadly, in Thailand.

Can she now legally sue the health department for not protecting her? That would make my day.

For anyone that thinks there is no more Covid in Thailand I have one really nice bridge for sale. Everyone is in denial because they are so desolate to get back the tourism industry.

They'll probably find that she's been to Loei, that seemed to be enough to keep the CCSA happy a few months ago when that Thai lady tested positive under similar circumstances. Though at the moment, a visit to Tak might be more appropriate as a cop-out, lol.

The Coronavirus is here in Thailand.

Of course .

If you believe the announcements by the government , you will believe the numbers given by the TAT as well ...

The strain of the Virus that is present here is less dangerous and less contagious than the one in Europe or the US , that is all .

And Anutin wants to reduce the quarantine period to 7 days. He's probably taken a Trump College Course.
