Trump falsely claims victory with votes uncounted, rival Biden confident

I must confess to being a little bit confused, as I suppose befits a "bear of very little brain" such as myself.

You see, every time over the last few years that I have mentioned the incongruous situation vis - a - vis the  popular vote and the "Electoral College", anguished cries from American posters (mostly it seems from the Trump supporting camp) have lectured me about how, as a representative republic, the Electoral College is the deciding factor. Now Mr Trump is demanding that the counting cease, (as of course I have been told the popular vote is irrelevant) and he be declared the winner - even though at the time which he demanded this (and as I post) he is behind in the "Electoral College voting tally. So I am confused as to exactly which provision of the United States Constitution, or even which interpretation of it, supports this demand?

If, by some ironic quirk, Mr Biden were to win the Electoral College, yet Mr Trump were to win the popular vote, I would have to retire to Pooh Corner with a large jar of honey!

  • No surprises here, he knows that if he loses and no longer has his presidential immunity before long he will probably be dining with Bernie Madoff on a daily basis.

At the time that I post, Biden leads in the electoral college votes by 224 -213 ( according to the BBC).

So I suppose that if they stop counting now, as Mr Trump demands, Mr Biden wins?

It's 224-213 in the states where they've called the results.  If they quit counting votes now, the states that were too close to call would be called as they stand, and Trump would win.  He's ahead in most of the states that are too close to call.

Sadly, it looks like he will win anyway.  The only thing worse for the country would be a Biden win, and even that's a pretty close tossup.

Count the votes!

Who knows he might still win legitimately but winning the way he is trying to will tear the country apart even more.

He doesn't care about that! The next thing will be a call to arms ! A tin pot dictator who wants to stop legitimate votes being counted ! What a sewer this man has made the office of Presidency

Isn`t it more likely that Biden wins more of the not yet counted votes.

It seems in the pending states they`re waiting for the results from bigger cities and postal votes. Those voters shoul mostly prefer Biden, or not?

At the time of your posting, and still now, the score was/is 238 / 213.

It is like that since at least 8pm Thai time

My 2 cents (12 noon EST 11/4/2020)

Biden gets PA.

12 hours ago, 3 different news sources had 3 different scores.  One of them had better interactive maps, one had better data, and the third was pretty useless.  I just went from tab to tab.

I gave up following any of them a few hours ago, because they've announced it may be days before they finish counting all the mail in ballots.  Plus, it's close enough (in enough states to tip the election one way or the other) that one side or the other -or both- will be demanding recounts in enough states to put initial results in question.

I wish I had taken screenshots of the data, because I suspect one or more of them called Michigan and/or Wisconsin much too early...

Trump claims victory.

So amongst all his many faults he also suffers from premature adjudication.

Looks like biden will win without the need for Pa.

OP Title: Trump falsely claims victory with votes uncounted, rival Biden confident

Does anyone see anything strange about this title? Strange may not be be the best word to describe it (IYGMD).

Biden as predicted will easily win the popular vote but it would be cool to give the Republicans some of their own medicine.

Donald thinks that he is above the law . He likes Putin and Kim Yong Un ...

Looks like they've found a few bags of uncounted Biden votes at the end of the count.

Who could have guessed?

It was predicted this way.  Mail in votes are heavily democratic as they don't listen to the president's lies about voter fraud.  Republicans voted in person, thus putting themselves at risk for the virus because they listened to Trump's lies about voter fraud.

Crazy times.  Who would have guessed Trump would have lied about the election results.  Looks like he might just be the loser he so hates.  I'd love to see him right now.  An even brighter shade of orange, probably. ????

Just a reminder, posting false or misleading information will earn suspensions.

Jared is said to be fishing for his "James Baker". rudy giuliani seems like a good candidate?

Think we may have to wait until December 14, 2020? (3 U.S.C. §7)

Suing (in GA, maybe more) to stop the count doesn't sound like the act of someone who thinks they have won?

Other than rudy g. and eric, not too many repubs out on the plank with trump right now.

That's true regarding their analysis dept. They were calling Arizona for Biden much earlier than many of the other news outlets--which gave Trump fits.  (Thank you, Fox.)   Fingers crossed Biden will win but sad that it is this close and the Senate likely isn't going to flip.

It is impossible for Trump to disgrace himself, as there is no dignity, pride, grace, statesmanship, or decency to save. It is all long gone, decades before he became prez. You can make an argument that he is disgracing the party, and several party leaders have already distanced themselves, from these lies and this nonsense. But, the party has towed the line with Trump to the point where it has lost alot in the way of credibility.

Biden appears poised to win this thing. And that is a great thing for the nation, and the planet. Imagine if Trump won again? He would just become more of a liar, and less of a leader. See ya Don!

Got it. Heads, trump wins. Tails, Biden loses. Glad he's not a coach because when his team got ahead, regardless, the time remaining to be played, trump would claim that his team had won and leave the field.

Fair and square is an oxymoron when associated with Trump!

He is without question the most corrupt individual to ever hold the presidency.  Nixon was an angel compared to Trump!  I am embarrassed to be an American citizen when I see that so many people voted for this liar and his enablers in the senate!  In 2016, no one knew but there was no excuse in 2020!

However, I am an American citizen and as such I voted by mail despite Trump's best efforts to remove the privilege!
