Prayut challenges his successor to be greater, better, more honest

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has issued a challenge, saying the person who succeeds him should be greater, better and more honest.

According to Matichon, the premier made this declaration in a keynote address at the Thailand National Defence College on Thursday.

Though media were not allowed to attend the event, a video recording of the speech was released.

In the speech, Prayut said the country’s educational system was not bad, but it focused far too much on academics, when people should be educated about patriotism, history and loyalty.

“I hope the person who comes after me will be greater, better and more honest or as honest as me,” he said, adding that he was tired and bored of using his authority and power.

He said he had used his power to “nurture good people and punish bad people”, which was a really tough job.

Prayut wrapped up by saying he does not understand why people keep saying he has exploited his power, when he has done everything according to law.

  • That’s a low, low bar.

  • What !!!! person who succeeds him should be greater, better and more honest. The man is delusional, 99.99 % of the population are more honest than him.

  • Military coups legal now are they ? Treason, probably one of the worst crimes a person can commit !

No point in having an education system if you dont focus on academics , the others are a part of schooling and dont need to be the main thing .

The statement made about his successor shouldn't be to hard to achieve .

'should be educated about patriotism, history and loyalty.........'

completely misguided and backward.

Translates as 'being blinkered, rote learning of myths and obedience.'

I can see it now Academics are bad, and instead brainwashing and mind control are better.

Yes no need for schools, just re-education camps.

Sounds like he is close to resigning based on his words. He not only disparaged the education system but, he also is still delusional as he believes he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Perhaps Prayut has a vast sense of humor he is concealing from everyone. Saying that with a straight face, he has a future as a deadpan comic.

What he actually means is reward his cronies and punish is enemies.

Any PM saying nationalist cr@p like that is not fit to run a country. Focusing education on "patriotism, history and loyalty" is not going to help the student in a professional career and drive the economy.

Good, then relent your position to democracy and stop abusing your unelected power

This is the PM who said that he would not use the state of emergency decree to arrest protesters. According to a report in Khaosodenglish, there are currently 68 individuals who have been charged with violation of the emergency decree to date.

The real challenge would be to find someone lesser, worse, and more dishonest.

"Prayut said the country’s educational system was not bad, but it focused far too much on academics, when people should be educated about patriotism, history and loyalty."

In other words, reading, writing, and arithmetic are all fine and good, but morally-weighty propaganda should prevail. All Hail *Thainess*!!!

"Prayut wrapped up by saying he does not understand why people keep saying he has exploited his power, when he has done everything according to law."

According to his corrupted version of "law". He's almost as narcissistic as tRump who, thank Buddha, is very likely on his way either to jail or a sneaky flight to Moscow. ????

<deleted> me. That is dark ages stuff.

Prayut wants somebody "more nonest" what does that portray about him?
