Illegal crossing from Cambodia to Thailand - case takes new twist!

Celebrity doctor "Mor Lab Panda" (a man called Phakphoom) posted on Facebook a picture of a group of Cambodians casually walking into Thailand across a sandbag dam on a klong behind a market in Pong Nam Rorn district of Chanthaburi on Thailand's eastern border.

The picture sparked controversy and much online comment as Thailand remains jittery about its allegedly porous land borders.

The Thai authorities hit back by posting pictures of officials at the area where there was lots of barbed wire installed.

They said on the Chao Chanthaburi (Chanthaburi people) fan page that the picture posted by Mor La Panda was an old one taken in March when there was a great drought in the area.

It was claimed that an agreement was made with the Cambodians that some desperate villagers on the Cambodian side of the border  were allowed to cross a klong into Thailand to get basic supplies.

They said it was a humanitarian gesture and criticized Mor Lab Panda for posting things damaging to the country.

However, in a new twist Mor Lab Panda has now posted comparison pictures that he claims clearly shows that he was right all along.

Drying leaves and fresh foliage show that the barbed wire has only just been put in to prevent incursions and he was correct and suggestions that the picture was old was wrong.

Thus he believes that he has caught the authorities out in a lie, notes Thaivisa.

He said he was resting his case and leaving it at that.

The Khmer are actually the natives of eastern part of Thailand and not the Tai.

Does it mean they should have a right to return to the motherland?

Anyhow a well educated khmer man once told me that the reason for this hatred is that thais have lost all wars with the khmers. ????????????????

I think he is just bringing the issue to the attention of those who supposedly say the borders are not porous.  Next they will be charging him with Les Majeste.  Go figure.  Even Thai's are not safe when they report things.  TIT.

The Ayutthayan king Naresuan returned two years later, eventually subjugating the whole country and finally sacking the city Longvek on 3 January 1594.

why its called siem reap. coz siamise were defeated there.

The leaderless Thai army fled, and Ang Chan allegedly captured more than 10,000 Siamese soldiers. To celebrate his great victory, King Ang Chan supposedly named the battleground "Siem Reap", meaning 'the total defeat of Siam'.

That is what they want you to believe. Kept the numbers low so they could begin tourism whenever they want. Kept the test prices high so people wont get themselves tested. That was their strategy.

My analysis of the global  covid stats tells me this. The strategy works because a huge number of covid patients remain asymptomatic and their own body's immunity kills the virus in a week or so.

Antibody surveys done in my country tells that probably 20-30% of the city dwelling population has covid specific antibodies but those people never had any symptoms. This shows they were infected at sometime in the past but their body's immune system killed the virus.

So this means that if you don't do mass testing and just focus on those who report themselves sick, you could keep the numbers low.

My country has one of the highest number of infections globally  as we won't stop testing and we have no shame in accepting the numbers. We are testing at airports, stations, door to door testing, public places etc.  We don't depend on tourism and we don't need to hide the numbers.

Doing quite well, until you got to the last line .

Suggesting that Thailand is keeping its Covid numbers low in order to protect the tourist industry .

In reality , Thailand hasnt allowed any tourists in since the pandemic began .

The Thai tourist industry has been non existent for the last ten months

Do you have a grudge against a Thai person ?

Did you get loved with a wrongen  and and got your fingers burnt ?

With some 5 millions of immigrant workers there always will be illegal cross border movement. Re-entry to thailand means 2 weeks of quarantine, for somebody going away for a weekend of urgent family matter it’s not an option.
Covid is in birma, not in cambodia, so there is no danger from this direction.

Many of those citisens reports about illegal border crossings, would be from nationalists, who try to keep xenophobia in the spotlight. Probably it’s the case with this doctor

Your point was that because one person made an unsavory remark , that means the whole Nation made that remark

That is what i dont understand, why they strived so hard to keep the numbers low? is it because of face saving? they dont want the public to have one more reason to hate those in power.

Thailand it seems, is very vigilant and difficult when dealing with in-country foreigners 'protecting Thailand form those pesky Farangs that want to 'control and buy Thai land' but when it comes to guarding their land crossing borders with Covid infested neighboring counties their neighboring countries they all of a sudden lose to plot and ruin everything they have achieved in the last 6 months...
