Thais slam officialdom for being a huge part of the Covid outbreak problem, poll

A "Super Poll" has revealed what Thais nationwide think of their officials and civil servants. 

 

They have slammed them in no uncertain terms.

 

Nearly everyone blames them for being part of the Covid-19 outbreak problem.

 

An overwhelming majority believe state officials are complicit in allowing migrant smuggling gangs free reign. 

 

While they are fed up with Thai officials passing the buck when it comes to admitting responsibility.

 

A total of 1,352 people were polled under the banner of New Year Covid strategies. 

 

Some 97.3% thought Thai officials were responsible for conniving with the smuggling gangs and being part of the problem of the spread of Covid.

 

A total of 98.1% were fed up with it all blaming Thai officialdom for ruining their New Year plans. 

 

90.1% won't be celebrating New Year as they'd hoped. 

 

83.3% were sick of Thai officials and civil servants passing the buck and denying responsibility. 

 

The poll was conducted between Sunday and Saturday last week as Thailand was gripped by well over a thousand new infections starting at a shrimp market in Samut Sakhon and spreading to dozens of other provinces.

Don't play coy, poll respondents!

 

You have ALWAYS known that your bureaucrats and officials are stuck neck deep in all sorts of scams, schemes, corruption, graft, and indeed sheer criminal acts.

 

Why so upset only now, respondents? Shouldn't you have "slammed' them on numerous occasions in the past?

 

It is YOU who always have been playing along with their graft and corruption. YOU have helped curate this situation in the first place. It is YOU who were paying them "commissions" when you sought some benefit for yourselves. Isn't that true? YOU willingly accepted illegal migrants that you could deploy for slave wages in your factories and sweatshops. YOU have supported this system all along. And now it has come to bite you in the ... well, you know what.

They are beyond incompetent and the corruption level is staggering. Anything, absolutely anything that can be done to limit the power of the army, and the toxic and corrupt senators they appointed, is a good thing for the nation. The dinosaurs must be made extinct. And the youth must be allowed representation or control. Total control, if possible. They are the only ones who can move this nation forward, and stop the heinous and regressive  army.

 

They are the most regressive force possible. What sacrifices are these cowards willing to make for their people? None. It is all about the guys at the top, and the protection of the ivory tower and fortunes that are being made by the 00.2%.
 
I suspect the future is not going to be kind to these guys. May the youth prevail!

There is only one way to end corruption, and that is for everyone, always, not to play along with it for their own benefit. Of course that is never going to happen. There was a glimmer of hope in the young but, exactly as I predicted, their protests have achieved absolutely nothing, nothing at all.

I don't believe that. It has to start somewhere. I have alot of pride in the Thai youth, who are standing up to what appears to be insurmountable repression, control, and overly invasive authority.

 

Things will change. It has to start somewhere. I do believe the youth will prevail over the dinosaurs. Eventually. For now, God bless them for their courage, vision and passion.

It might have helped if they had maintained their pressure instead of going off on holiday. If/when they return it'll be like starting again from zero. I don't understand their thinking, giving the authorities a respite. If you want to make an impact then keep up the pressure relentlessly, until you've won or, like in HK, your rebellion has been crushed. You certainly don't take a break and allow the authorities to re-group. That's madness.

Very small number of people to be basing any view on, given that the population is about 79 million, 1,352 sounds like family and friends only, who are always going to agree with the enquirer so as not to cause offence.

That's great, but a lot of Thais view the virus as only coming from foreigners and have their mask down/off most of the time (even now), except for when they see foreigners.  They then lift it up then drop it again once the foreigner has gone.

 

Obviously this attitude means some Thais are deliberately exposing themselves to unnecessary risk.

As long as nothing affects their income stream, they won't be caring. Don't forget that this unelected "PM" and his soldiers are "governing" by default. They bullied their way in six years ago and even after another "election" this "PM" is still there.

Yes, I have forgotten already ????. The western system (I can only speak about the UK system here) is streets ahead of Thailand in every way, even without the unelected "PM" and his generals, in education, brainpower, they also have their corrupt ways but have the ability to cover it up, which the Thais don't.

I am not sure that the protests are actually finished, I think you will find that when the covid starts to clear up, the protests will start again.

You will probably see the unelected "PM" replaced by another Military Academy educated soldier. then it will be up to the students and other younger Thais to start an uprising and get a properly elected government in power.

Agree, what can you do when this question is part of the setup of the MorChana tracking system they are asking all Thai to download. If they answer YES, is their estimate risk factor higher because they work with foreigners? Really?
