Hua Hin: Confusion reigns as Prachuap governor issues New Year closure orders

An order signed by the Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Phallop Singhaseni left many of the public at the resort in confusion regarding what could and could not open.

One thing was clear: All pubs, bars and karaoke establishments were shut from today 31st December until January 6th. Offenders face jail time of a year and a 100,000 baht fine or both.

Local journalist Kulsawek Sawekwannakorn shared the order dated 30th December that also mentioned that gambling places like cock and fish fighting were to be shut and cleanliness was to be observed particularly at gas stations.

But his post was greeted with many questions from local residents on Facebook who asked if restaurants, massage establishments, places with music and the like were part of the order.

Kulsawek then shared another section of a letter signed by the governor that referred  to restaurants, fresh markets, regular markets and places that distribute alcohol.

He took this to mean that such places would NOT be closed.

Closer examination of this part  showed that it also referred to movie theaters and public parks.

So what is open?

Unlike the order issued for Pattaya on Wednesday, most businesses in Hua Hin remain open.

Shopping malls, fitness centers, schools and public parks remain open.

While some New Year’s Eve events in the town have been cancelled, Thaivisa understands that many others, particularly events at hotels are, at the time of publication, due to go ahead.

If you plan to attend a Countdown event, check with the event organisers if it is still going ahead.

There is no ban on the sale of alcohol.

Restaurants were not specifically mentioned in the order and at present it appears they can remain open.

It also appears that bars which serve food may be able to remain open, although live music is not permitted.

Another requirement is that mask wearing is mandatory when outside.

Exactly identicle to last time. One or 2 governors kick it off and quickly joined by all the others followed by the PM making it nation wide to stop the total confusion.

What a lousy new year with no cock and fish ????

The traffic is building in Hua Hin already, it's going to be one of the busiest nights of the year despite the measures.

My cock is fine. I just did a test run to verify full operational status. Granted, I live outside Huahin, but not too far.

Indeed, if I sent a photo you would see  the bull part is there. More than one young lady has gasped and blanched at the sight but a few have squealed with joyful anticipation.

Quick someone wake him up because he is dreaming again or he is infected with some virus that makes him delusional. Happy New Year RocketDog

Incorrect.......We have a bar seating about 35. We serve food too, though not an extensive menu, about 12 Thai dishes, plus burgers, fish chips, Chili, stew, pies etc.

We were told by messenger from the Policeman, who knows our establishment very well, that we had to close.

Meanwhile a restaurant down the road who seats about the same, albeit in less than half the space, is packed full of customers drinking beers...............Absolute madness...........:annoyed:

Delusional? Yes, for sure. Virus, nope.

Dreaming, sure. It's become a way of life.

Admit it, you're envious.

Hua Hin will soon have a lot of cases as the girls will all go home and bring back cases from the other provinces. Not very well thought out. Much saver to keep the girls here. The restaurants were busy with people drinking, just larger groups 555.

Cant make out why PKK has been upgraded as i thought we only had 2 cases the immigration woman and one other(in fact interactive map shows no current cases https://covid19.ddc.moph.go.th/en

Thais near me are getting jumpy about Bangkok people in hotels in PKK and Klong wan from listening to the crowd at my local shop  they certainly aren't welcome and need  to " **** **f " go way home soon
