Thailand’s former finance minister Korn Chatikavanij has urged the government to make quick use of all available resources, particularly the 600 billion baht residue of two loans, to ease the sufferings of people and businesses affected by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We must do everything, use all the resources available so that people will suffer as little as possible. This is the message we would like to hear from the prime minister today,” said Korn, who is also leader of the Kla Party, in his Facebook post on Sunday.

He stressed the importance of sending a signal to the people to build confidence, among business operators and workers, that the government is financially stable and is capable of alleviating their hardships, even if that means the government having to borrow more.

You have to wonder if there is and residual or if it has been pocketed already.  They have been talking about taking new loans out, but that makes no sense if there is still residual monies left from the amount they took before. Maybe is was earmarked for the Submarines and the Space Shuttle program.

Perhaps the hope was that the B600 billion, if not mentioned would fade in everyone's memories, until such time as it could be, umh, suitably disposed off - merely as an accountancy tidying up exercise of course?

The Two loans that Korn is referring to, are probably the Loans secured from ADB.

One was in April ( I think ) and One was fairly recently, and they totaled about 3 Trillion Baht, and were for " Covid Relief Efforts ".

This is why Korn wants the 600 Billion baht spent in the way that it was intended to be spent

DUH! Korn is one of the few qualified people here, when it comes to finances. Shame this administration does not have anyone of his caliber, in any position, much less finance. With the inevitable upcoming nationwide lockdown, the people are going to be hurting in a big way. I hear it will start tomorrow. We shall see. Regardless, domestic tourism will slow down to a trickle, for some time, and that means far more jobs lost. This hapless administration needs to be courageous, and help out the people most in need.

Crack open the cash they are hoarding to support the Thai baht and get it out to the people.

Are you sure that the cash is there for real? Not just more lies from this corrupt government?
