Over the last few months, I've been seeing more and more pretty good  offers on social media platforms for cars and pickups. Here for example, Mitsubishi Triton 4 door double cab 39k down or Pajero Sport 0% financing.

Has anybody here had any dealings with these kinds of offers (online I mean)? Any pitfalls I should look out for?

Am in the market for a new pickup and think now is the time to buy.

You might not like the vehicle or may not be able to keep up the payments...

???? Huh ??? say what now ???... .  the mind boggles at this comment !!!

The only pitfall I’d be concerned of is promotions which look good but are getting rid of dated stock or soon to be discontinued models.

Good point.

Your best bet is to attend the year end (December) auto show in Bangkok. They almost always offer inventory clearance discounts...example I just bought a Mazda 2, 40K off list and lots of extras thrown in. Toyota offering 35K off Yaris as another example.

Many dealers offering similar deals on facebook pages some are restricting to certain employee groups

Only you have the following qualifications
Company employees (with salary slip or certificate)
 Government officials.
 State Enterprise Employees
 State employees.
 the police
 Soldier
 judicial civil servants
 Doctors, nurses
 Teacher.
Some dealers will offer upto 200-250,000 baht discount or   0% financing on Pajero Sport but unlikely to get both large discount and 0%

Dated stock and discontinued models are something new to worry about?

I would be much happier buying a car from old stock that I like and than has payments that aren't a burden than I would be had I bought a car I did not like or that I could not afford.

There seems to be more deals now from most all manufacturers than there has been in the twenty plus years I have been here, I assume this is due to covid.

In my opinion, the best time to buy a car is in the second year of a new platform which I think the Triton may be in.

In any event, whatever you buy, once you buy it, quit shopping...

Ford have 100K THB off many models if you pay cash and also 0% finance if you by on the never never.  I was talking to one sales person and she dropped the Titanium+ down from 1,809,000 to 1,682,000 and that is just from discussing on line. Not sure why the Titanium+ doesn't have 'Sport'  version like the 2 wheel drive lower powered 'Sport".  Go  figure!

TYGA, which dealer were you talking to?? I am looking at getting a new Everest... Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but this kind of discount might move me off the bump... Imam assuming 2020 vehicle?? Thanks for your input!

yes it is 2020. Chatting with sales person right now as it happens. Bkk. Her facebook (I don't do line ) so messenger her there  https://www.facebook.com/nidnoi.head/  . She is very responsive and helpful. One thing, she gave a little extra discount because it will  be in a company name but minimum 100K discount and you can go from there. I saw last night another dealer saying 300K off Fords but only Thursdays and Fridays or something (Thai language) I think it was probably click bait. It seems once you start liking this sort of thing on faceebook, your feed will be full of them!

Your buying last years (manufactured) car, as seen by the VIN number. Although the registration will show 2121 .

Just going by Honda's (which I usually buy) they make small changes as they go along. I last brought 5 years ago, waited until April, the door handles and a few other small things had changed. I will buy this year, but will wait until mid year, I don't think the financial situation in Thailand would have improved by then---so deals should still be around.

On Ford, the big change is supposed to be later this year or next, or... The trouble is, you just keep  putting it off if you are like me. On the other hand, I need a new vehicle now or should I wait LOL ????

If you hunt about there's good deals to be had on 2nd hand vehicles due to the ongoing situation and people needing money.

They're definately out there if you put in the time and effort to look.

I have been looking at a few websites, and recording prices for second hand pickup trucks (0-2 years old) for the last 4-5 months.

Can you recommend some websites with reduced prices?

There have been no significant reductions in prices advertised at the following websites:

https://www.bahtsold.com/

https://www.one2car.com/

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Cars4salePattaya/

https://www.taladrod.com/w40/home/

https://www.motors.co.th/en

https://www.fast2car.com/

I was more reffering to private sales.

But have you called any of them to negotiate or do you always pay the displayed price?

I'd sell you my TRD for 7 million but you're looking for a pick up - pitty!

They don't like to negotiate over the phone. I went to one second dealer, a month ago, who advertised a 2019 Ranger XLT with 19,000 km. for 549,000. When I got to the dealer, the windshield price and the sales person quoted price was 599,000 and the odometer showed 130,000 km, and it had been in a heavy accident, where the right fender and bumper no longer fit together properly, and the sales person was telling it still had a factory warranty because it was less than 3 years old, which is BS because the warranty ended at 100K KM.
