My GF washes them, does not peel them. I am not going to give her any directions on how to prepare food for me, then I might have to do it myself.

She does peel carrots and potatoes. I used to cook them skin on.

An old recipe, from a food critic in one of the Sunday papers if I remember right.

Peel cucumber

Slice lengthwise

Take out pips with teaspoon.

Slice thinly.

Arrange on plate.

Dress with vinegar oil,season

Sprinkle herb of choice, dill or parsley?

Then throw into bin.

Really,i do not think washing will get rid of all the poison!

I saw a farmer spray his crop  the day before it was harvested and went to the market!

this is what they ALL do !

nice to see that at least someone has an idea about what he is talking ❤️

No. I like to walk on the wild side just for the adrenalin rush.

I had considered base jumping but it looked too risky plus there have been far fewer fatalities eating cucumbers with the skin on.

Man I haven't laughed that hard in while, thanks!

Good question though.

I do, always have, always will. I took it for granted that most do. I can't say I remember ever being served a dish in Thailand where the cucumber slices were not peeled.

It must be peeled for 100%, otherwise I don't eat it.

All the chemicals they use.....

I might be referring to more than one meal. You're forgiven, I've been known to indulge in a bit of pedantry too.

Any vegetable, fruit or potatoe I buy and eat in Thailand is thoroughly washed and peeled before consumption.

Too much poison.

how can people not know that most pesticide are found on the peel of any fruits and vegetables ?

champions ?!

For me it's easy, just go out and look at the cans of stuff they mix to spray the cucumbers and other vegetables near my house where they sell to markets. Thats why I grow my own.

Do you do that with pineapples too?

If you are going to peel it, why do you need to wash it?

I do. I just bear this in mind: Does it matter if someone with COVID-19 coughed, sneezed, talked, or breathed too close to the apple you’re about to add to your cart? Are you at risk if someone with the virus on their fingers picked up that zucchini you need for dinner, then put it back on the shelf? Not to forget all those cucumbers, broccoli, carrots etc piled up on snot-flooded pavement. You can't help but admire  those piles of tomatoes, radish and potatoes sprawled out nicely on phlegm-speckled footpaths.

Ahh.. that familiar throaty raspy effort to expectorate a stubborn dose of zucchini coating.

I peel all cucumbers whether in Thailand or in Australia. As a kid we ate apple cucs in OZ and they had prickles on them so peeling was essential. I do recall my mother would scrape them with the tines of a fork before slicing. I have no idea why she did this.

I always peel them for my cucumber sandwiches, and cut off the crusts too.

Buttered bread, salt and pepper, none of this cream cheese or mayonnaise malarkey.

Pip-pip!
