TAT advocates "Sexy tours" for "quality tourists" to boost Thailand's recovery

The head of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has proposed what he called "sexy" tourism to spur Thailand's recovery from the pandemic.

He was definitely not referring to an image of the country from yesteryear but a brave new way forward to attract "quality tourists".

Governor Yutthasak Suphasorn's vision is to inspire confidence among Thais in domestic tourism as a number one priority.

He accepted that post pandemic the numbers may be down but he'll be targeting the high spenders.

So the spending will actually be UP!

For this group safety and the environment really rocks their boat,  he told Channel 7.

"They want sexy tourism,' he enthused.

Yes, high value tourism was the way to recover past glories after the Covid-19 pandemic recedes, he suggested.

I am sure those "high spenders" are going to feel very sexy when they travel through thick smoke from miles and miles of burning fields, just seconds before their luxury van driver falls asleep behind

  • Dear oh dear, the bottom of the barrel is scraped.

  • Well, at least we know that Governor Yutthasak Suphasorn didn't get this position based on merit.

I think it's simply an example of poor use of English...when I was teaching my students would always use the word "funny" to denote having fun...perhaps using the word 'sexy' is the same as saying tourists want to have more "sex" ?

Nice one, very funny. :giggle:

You've got a lot of work to do to fix those environmental and safety issues ahead of your "sexy tours". Mr. Yuthasak. And better hurry up. Droves of foreign high spenders are waiting impatiently to come to Thailand because they really have grown bored of places such as the French Riviera, Bora-Bora, the Maldives, and the Bahamas.

Hmm... will all high-spending male arrivals be greeted with the the time-honored traditional phrase, "Hello, sexy man!", I wonder.

Looks like the Bars, Beaches and massage shops will be a top priority for a SEXY Tour of Thailand.

Not sure a SEXY tour of Thailand could be considered High Value Tourism, but hey when we have Visions of Grandeur why not go all in...

Sexy tour Thailand 2021.

A happy ending guaranteed :jap:

I have enjoyed quite a few "sexy tours" during my first decade of living in the kingdom... although admittedly my definition was considerably different from that of Mr. Yuthasak.

Yes, you put people who can't speak the international language of travel and tourism fluently  in charge of tourism to Thailand, good move.  That won't cause any confusion at all.

God, you must be kidding...
TAT has no clue whatsoever, or what??

Ive been going to LOS since 2008 and have never been into the sex scene....its simply easy and cheap living for me...

So if hes proposing a Sexy Tour does this mean we have to do ASQ in a massage shop or gogo bar for 2 weeks?

Asking for a friend...  Hoping the Sangsom isnt marked up too much....can I bring my own mixers???  ????

Someone should inform someone else that it is NOT YET April 1st.

Yeah I think he was using the word sexy in the same way as Ruud Gullit famously said he wanted to see sexy football. I don't think he meant the players wearing G strings, high heels and doing the Pattaya shuffle.

Gullit had some great quotes.????
