Student Apartment - Bang Na

Featured Replies

My daughter is going to ABAC uni in a couple of months and needs an apartment.

The ones she showed me which are at the uni are 6-8k a month.

Is this the going rate in that area? It's been many years since I've lived in Bkk.

Does anyone know a decent condo in that area?

Don't know anything about them...but you really need to walk in to the building to get a sense of maintenance and quality housing.

Many of the condos there have large student populations, my GF was assigned by her company for a 3 month project last year and had to stay near there, some buildings were <deleted> and some were nice...but you could not tell from the outside. many condos were trashed by former student residents and not fit to live in.

I would faint at that price.

My kid has just been sent on work placement in Lamphun for 3 months and an apartment there cost me 2,500bht/month.

Thank god she's finished in a month or two, I'll be quids in once her education is finished.

Does the university have halls of residence?

That's often cheaper and safer for new students away from home for the first time?

An alternative is if 2-3 students share a condo/house, safety and friendship in numbers, I know near me there are several business that find room-mates for students to share.

6-8k sounds relatively expensive.

Places where students stay in Bangkok are usually somewhere in the 2k (15sqm, no aircon) to 5k (relatively new, 25sqm, aircon) THB range.

Finding a reasonable place with aircon for 4k should be doable if you look around a bit. At this price range you are looking at apartments, not at condos.

Most students prefer staying with two people at a nicer place with aircon for 4-5k THB, than alone at small place without aircon for 2k.

This website is quite good to find an apartment: https://renthub.in.th/

6-8k sounds pretty good to me. We paid 9.5k for my boy’s, but that was downtown. Bang a should be cheaper.

As others have said, you need to go and look. You don’t want your daughter in a questionable location...

I'm near Bangna and pay 6500 for a condo, with a pool, fitness, security, fully furnished, TV, washing machine, fridge.

Your daughter should be looking for a หอพัก, or dormitory, student lodging. These lose the amenities and should be quite cheaper. No fridge as she'll be eating out or bringing back take out, no personal washing machine as there will be a nearby coin laundry, and minimal furnishing.
