Georgia launches criminal probe into Trump efforts to overturn 2020 election result - letter

Proof not found of either, did you miss the 60 odd court losses?

Not sure I follow you.  The 60 odd court cases that I am aware of were brought by Trump [supporters] alleging election interference on behalf of the Democrats.

What I am referring to is Trump's call to Georgia official trying to solicit election interference to benefit Trump.

Am I missing something?

I think Trump will fade from people's minds without the bully pulpit of the presidency and without his Twitter account.

Although he has really beat the odds with respect to his lifestyle not resulting in poor health, I don't know how long that can last.

There is more to the internet than twitter and he'll be back on something else that the American left can't block. I'd like to see him on his own interactive website just like TVF is.

Right.  He'll be back on an echo chamber platform that only right-wingnuts follow.  Let's see how well he does with that.

Clueless.

What am I defending? Just merely pointing out that the lefts new SOP is to use the justice system to go after political enemies. Hell of a precedent being set that surely is going to be used in return when the other party is in power.

What about the rights 60 failed lawsuits to over turn the election?  SOP for the nutters on the right.

He just spews lies and hate. Why would you support that? Bizarre.

There should be more than enough proof in this particular case, as he blatantly demanded that more votes for him are "found".

Hopefully he'll be charged and convicted, it would be a start!

Impeachment is not part of the justice system.

Trump was impeached by the House while he was still in office and the Justice Department was under him.

The Democrats did not have phone calls with state officials and make legal threats in order to change election results.  Trump did.

"Well, under the law you're not allowed to give faulty election results, OK? You're not allowed to do that. And that's what you done. This is a faulty election result. And honestly, this should go very fast."  https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/03/politics/trump-brad-raffensperger-phone-call-transcript/index.html

Note that Trump said the above after it had been patiently explained to him that every accusation of voter fraud in Georgia had been investigated and found to be false.

If the investigation leads to indictment and conviction of the disgraced twice impeached Mr. trump, what are the sentencing guidelines for the likely felonious crimes?

There are none.  Whether convicted or not by the Senate, it is up to the judicial system to decide if Trump should be prosecuted for breaking the law.

Bit like Trump threads on TVF then? 3 pages on this thread so far and only 4 posts not attacking Trump. If you hadn't noticed, there are not many Trump supporters posting any more, so IMO it's almost an echo chamber that only posters opposed to Trump follow.

He can be barred from holding public office henceforth, so could not even run dogcatcher at his wonderous resort

Perhaps they are not "attacking", they have done their analysis, and come to an opinion, which differs from yours; that is part of a democratic process, facts, analysis, debate, vote.

Another possibilty of course is, they no longer support him, and feeel some remorse for their first impression of him and being conned by an incompetent.

Many pro Trump supporters have a tough time with facts. Luckily, conspiracy theories are not allowed here. And thus, these members have moved on to places like Parler where they can spew lies freely.

Congrats to the mods for keeping this forum free from "alternative facts".

That's an odd answer.

I wasn't talking about impeachment.

That trial is in progress and even if convicted carries no prison time.

I was only talking about the potential charges in Georgia about the phone call.

I did look this up and indeed there are three potential  specific Georgia legal code charges  Two are potential felonies. What I wanted to know is what are the prison time sentencing ranges for the specific charges he may face in Georgia.  Anyway its obvious that his liberty is in.jeopardy as he has legal exposure in Georgia, New York,  and potential federal issues with tax fraud  and more.

I don't find the possible penalties for breaking the GA laws, but Trump also broke federal election laws with the following maximum penalties:

To convict Trump, prosecutors would have to prove that the outgoing president sought to have ballots counted that were “known by [Trump] to be materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent under the laws of the State in which the election is held.”   5 years.

To overcome this argument, prosecutors would have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Trump knew he lost the election and that any “found” ballots would be fraudulent.  5 years.

Another federal law makes it a crime to “conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person ... in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States.”    10 years.

https://www.vox.com/2021/1/4/22213031/trump-georgia-crime-criminal-brad-raffensperger-election-call-fraud-felony

Keep in mind that all of these penalties are per offense.  Since it is highly likely that Trump had similar conversations with state election officials in PA, WI, and possibly other states.  He could be looking at decades in prison, IF the Garland DoJ decides to prosecute him for these crimes.

If he gets convicted in Georgia is it going to be like Cool Hand Luke?

"I'm shaking that bush Boss!"

Actually, in the movie one of the convicts was a New York flim-flam man, so even there he's not original.

Due to his age and poor health he could end his days in prison, like Al Capone.

Prison is not nice but the disgraced twice impeached Mr. trump may be forced to leave Mar a Lago so at least it would be a cot and three.

That is because they finally realized what a lowlife Trump really is. There are still some who have a problem seeing that.

Apparently you don't understand what a social media echo chamber is.

If you hadn't noticed there were many Trump supporters on Trump threads for the last four years.  However as Trumps actions became increasingly indefensible their numbers dropped.

Something similar happened on TV following the 2014 coup.  Initially there were many cheerleaders for Prayuth and the coup.  Those criticizing it were a minority.  However as it became increasingly clear that Prayuth's motives were not noble, that he had no intention of relinquishing power, and that military rule was at least as corrupt as democratic government, the number of coup cheerleaders declined rapidly.  Very few admitted they were wrong, they just stopped drying to defend the indefensible.

The Trump base is more dedicated than the Prayuth base, but the same thing is happening.

Parler got shut down just like the former president's Twitter account. The big ol' rock that was hiding the vermin got moved and now they're scurrying around, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
