The director of Vachira Hospital in Phuket told the Thai media that foreign tourists would return to the island in October.

Dr Chalermpong Sukhonthaphol said that 80% of the Phuket population would be vaccinated against Covid-19 by September.

In October the foreign tourists would be back to start repairing the devastated economy.

He noted that Phuket was one of 13 provinces singled out for some of the first batches of vaccine.

They got 4,000 doses enough for 2,000 people.

He said that there had been no local infection for 70 days now everyone needed to get the local economy back on its feet.

Some will go there but not in the numbers your thinking about it will years before numbers return to pre covid-19 times .

So at the end of September all form of quarantine will be abolished.......if it isn`t then the good Doctor can carry on dreaming...:whistling:

While I am sure he has some good contacts, I don't believe his contacts will know what is going to happen when it is very clear to all observing this that nobody in the Thai government has any idea on how to proceed with this.

Everyone wants time to give opinion and to make love to news microphone.

Pity they cannot all agree to a strategic plan first. Embarrassing.

assuming all the "tourists" want to stay on Phuket.. what are they going to do if any of them decide to, errr, see the sites elsewhere? lock them in?

So much for the return in the 3rd quarter that has been promised by all and sundry in the Government, or maybe he just has a different calendar to the rest of us.

And the remaining 20% who would still be waiting for inoculation will be shi**ing themselves.

Yep. We'll be way way way at the back of the queue.

I got news for you. I dont trust your virus counting.

regardless if covid free or not, there are also other reasons this tourist will not return to phuket.

this virus has done at least one thing, people will find alternative holiday destinations.

While there is widespread knowledge that any of the vaccines do NOT prevent transmission, just lessen severity of discomfort, I fail to see what difference such vaccinations are going to make. The only way to get through this economic disaster is either to do away with quarantine, or devise some cunning method of relieving tourists of their money without even allowing them into the country ????

Just where will these vaccines come from to vaccinate 80% of the Island.

The very nice ladies do that already, well in Pattaya they seem to manage to relieve guys 1000s of kilometres away of their money ????????

That's what they've been aiming to achieve for years, arrive in airport give us your money and now like good little tourists fly back home, we don't really want you here.
