Pattaya: Thai woman falls for gold scam not once but twice - police doing nothing

9pm1.jpg

A Thai woman called Natthasaran, 36, went to Siam Chon News on Sunday after she fell for online gold scams not once but twice.

First of all she said that she got interested in a Facebook group in March of last year in which you could buy cheap gold bars and jewelry under shop prices.

All went well at first then after she invested 563,888 baht in eleven separate purchases she stopped receiving the gold and everything went quiet except for a message that the business had collapsed.

Many people elsewhere had fallen for this and she reported the matter to the Na Jomtien police who issued a summons, she said.

Chasing her losses - and mindful of the fact that she had lost her job due to the pandemic - she invested in another similar scheme and this time blew 140,000 baht.

She warned the public that cheap gold is a scam and asked the media to help her to get the police to get a move on with her case.

Did she get 'genuine' gold bars or jewellry in her 11 transactions? Would have been so easy to check by going to a gold shop. Greedy cow!

Some never learn, nor will they ever unfortunately. Greed over rides common sense sometimes.

Sympathy: in dictionary between <deleted> and syphillis.

i guess those sellers just " feeded " her with nice profit  to trick her in further investing in it..., by giving trust and feeding the greed...... she bite the baited ..... as planned seems .....

professional  criminal gamblers ( playing as individuals not known to each other ....) work same way if they know an easy rich victim , letting him win a few times  , and then play him in organized game ....(as in real they are a gang players group ...)

Of course she was conned, and yes she is a victim, I will agree with that, but to say it is in no way partially her fault and then she should not bear some responsibility seems to run contrary to what many folks say about westerners when they get burned or conned.  You can not have your cake and eat it too.

To be taken once and not learn from the experience leaves one to think that it will happen a third time.  Can we all be guardians for others and steer them away when they get to close to the flame, many try, but then the person still never listens and gets burned anyway.

and then doesn't understand why it happened to them, and try to blame those that tried to warn them off.

In 'woke-speak', she needs to .. er ..... 'woman-up' and 'own' her stupidity and greed.... ????

Usually when a women makes a stupid mistakes they all say 'Oh well, at least she's pretty'...Not the case here by the looks of things...

Yeah, I also felt sad that she was so gullible. But also that there are people around happy to do that to harmless, innocent, gullible people like that. Makes me sick.

i find it difficult to feel sorry for the lady! to begin with -as i see it- she isn't poor if she can afford to lose alltogether 703888 baht.
second, after she has been scammed the first time, only greed -as i see it - urges her to invest more.
in short, as for me , she wasn't gullible.

If you continue to step in front of a speeding bus, you can't consider yourself a victim.

Well she blamed those that conned her. Rightly so.

Fooled once,  I feel sorry for you.  Fooled twice,  Sorry but you are just not believable.  you greedy.

boo hoo,  alligator tears just for you.

Geezer

Just shows you how gullable some people are. she doesnt deserve to lose her money but it will teach her a lesson if nothing else.........or should do
