Is there anyone who could give a logical explanation for all of this doing what is the relation to the virus?

Ummm...trying to keep people from getting infected, over running the hospitals, and dying.  Of course they totally blew it with Songkran.  That might have worked out OK if it wasn't for hi so's crossing the borders into casinos and bringing the virus back with them to the pubs in Bangkok.  Corruption rears it's ugly head here again.

No curfews, but then there is nothing now open Between 11pm and 4am, so why would anyone really be out and about.  No gatherings, no bars, no late night munchies, so in essence a pseudo curfew.  This

So the illustrious leader says no lockdown or curfew, leaving it up to local governors.

That is clearly a case of passing the buck, oh people dont blame me, it was your governor who did it, pathetic lack of leadership.

I think it makes sense.  Why issue national orders when every province is different???  But yes, we're in this mess due to lack of leadership.

Let's hope that Songkran Holidays does not increase Covid infections in the next couple of weeks.

And the stupidity continues. When will this madness end? And when/if it ever does...

Comparing a sterile surgery room with walking on a deserted beach (remember Jomtien mask enforcement...).

Right, next...

What's a deserted beach got to do with this?  Ridiculous comparison.  Masks are for when you are in public places, not deserted beaches.

Lockdowns, curfews and masks do nothing.

But while there is a gullible compliance, they will continue to enforce them.

An N95 mask properly worn will block 95%, or more, of the little tiny virus particles from entering your airways.

Not a rumour, its the law. N95 masks are certified.

But the issue here is that mostly, likely many of the poorer Thais the largest section of the population, can not afford to buy them. 80 baht may not seem much for a genuine N95 mask to us on here but for them it is food for the family for the day so hence the 10 baht surgical ones are the most popular amongst them. Now instead of the government wasting money on their toys and things and instead subsidise the cost of the N95 mask down to a very low level so it was easily affordable to the poor, that would indeed be of great benefit to the nation.

From the article

> The authorities in Pattaya have urged the public to wear a mask if they go to the beach during the day, and practice social distancing at all times. ...

Anyone who does decide to go to the beach is asked to wear a face mask and not be closer than 1-2 meters, the social distancing regulations.

Ridiculous indeed.

Not a short memory.  Just irrelevant.  Unless you're trying to say masks don't work?  Or shouldn't be used?

my wife left Surat Thani to travel up north(near Saraburi) to go to a farm to pick up some plants yesterday, she stopped at the hotel we usually stay at in Petchaburi last night but was told all the rooms were full due to a bus load of chinese tourists, have to wonder how a bus load of chinese tourists are travelling through Thailand with all the restrictions and the 10/14 day required quarantine as well. Said there were no raod blocks/police stops on the way up, will find out if there are any stops when she gets back to the hotel tonight

Memory refresher.  I was just reacting to your ridiculous statement:

> I'd like to see him tell his surgeon that no masks are needed during his operation.

Comparing a sterile surgery room where special surgery masks need to be worn to reduce the risks of infection, with the 'need' to wear face-masks in public places is somewhat over the top.

Ridiculous statement?  That's what I heard from a medical expert in a news report.  He was a surgeon and stated this.

I guess you think medical professionals are ridiculous?

But they got the name as the operating hours were 7am to 11pm.   Perhaps they should change the name whenever restrictions are imposed upon them.

Can anyone explain why convenience stores closing between 11pm and 4am helps to contain the disease? Is there some secret science there?

Any why isn't the vaccination drive being fast tracked? It would seem even if the army had to dig into its own enormous coffers, to purchase vaccines at a premium, it would be worth it. And I am not referring to the Sinovac junk vaccine.

I guess inter provincial travel from/to red zones will not happend without quarantene?

No inter provincial travel has been banned... but you go to quarantine if infected.

I think the government is being most generous. Most can't see this as they  disagree with every thing the government does.

Pretty much back to the same same as last April.

A whole year of talk ,  thousands of  proposals and 'maybes' and millions of words printed.

And less than 1% of the population immunised.

Sigh.

Another nice day scuba diving in phuket today. Going out on a boat again tomorrow. Will have to see what happens after Sunday at midnight.

A parent of a child at my daughters school  is Covid positive and informed the school that he caught the virus on a diving trip on 7th April.

just saying, in case you feel dive trips are totally safe.

I was scheduled to take a trip right around now, out of Phuket.  Decided not to.  Good thing I did.

I think a few people will be interested to see what is happing at the end of the month

Dependant on Corivirus numbers and where

could be further restrictions in May
