Thailand reports 1,767 new COVID-19 cases, 2 more deaths

So much for the claim that they were artificially limiting the cases to 1500 or just above.

Mind you the same kind of claim was made when the figures hovered just under 1,000 a day for a couple of days and it quite evidently wasn't true then, either.

Good that you mention that so many members sprout non sense these things need to be mentioned.

One member even said they changed the banking hours because the baht would crash and there would be bank run. That was after an article that said banks were limiting banking hours because of covid.

There truly are a lot of conspiracy thinkers out there. I really wish i had bought stock in tinfoil companies.

Let's just keep an eye on fatalities. Number of cases are less important. There can be an order of magnitude more cases undetected. Of course there's a correlation between case numbers and mortality, but it seems to be Thailand was pretty lucky in both terms since the start of this pandemic. ( I have no idea why)

I have an idea why...they didn’t report them...it’s a case of occums razor...either they under reported them or Thailand alone in the world has some special resistance to Covid. The simple explanation seems more plausible compared to some miracle immunity not shred by even their close genetic cousins in the region.

Do you see the pattern? Exponential growth does not stop because of a 3 day flatline

todays chart.png

That's a linear increase. And exponential increase will present as a straight line when the number of cases on the y-axis uses a log scale. The steeper that line the more exponential it is.

Local being person to person, at work, home whatever.

From quarantine being people who have entefed Thailand from wherever and have been quarantined and tested there..

Are you sure that’s correct? The high number of 200+ just seems unlikely if “from quarantine” really means upon entering Thailand.

I am wondering how many tests given per day and how they get results so quickly.

No statistic about how many tests given and what percentage are positive.

Amazing that Thailand has 1000's of tests available daily countrywide and are performing and analysing 1000's of tests daily.

Did not think  we had the capability.

There's a lot of info on testing stats, if you look at the very end of the daily COVID case numbers thread from yesterday.

We are really sitting ducts without the vaccines. I guess things could always be worst, we could have only Chinese vaccines on the horizon.

hope to see the restrictions and measures are EFFECTIVE to pull down the numbers, otherwise we may see 3,000 cases (blue trendline) per day by end of the month - uncontrolled. from Apr 01 to Apr 18, there are 13,489 cases; just the third wave it may easily add up 30,000+ cases by end of the month, the next 12 days.

sure big heads in the government seeing this as well, but WHAT ACTION ?

20210418 confirmed cases 1767 and hospitalised 13568.jpg

Any plans of opening for International or Domestic Tourism should be cancelled until sufficient vaccines obtained to vaccinate entire population.  Unfortunately this cannot be achieved before 2022 earliest.

With 3000 vaccinations per day it will only take about 60 years until we are all clear.

We should be okay ????

Speaking of genetic dispositions I wonder how the Homemade Covid Vaccine test results or Human Trials are going.

Hygiene !!!!!! Back in March of 2020, I was worried about the spread of the virus from China ,in Thailand !

Now that it's back, hygiene is not being practiced  as much according to news reports!

I would like to see  this stepped up especially in the rural areas with volunteers going through the villages , advising

everyone to practice  the safety measures !

These methods were a great help last year imop

Add few century in your numbers, people need second shot also and every year new shot.

Apparently 60% of those volunteers being tested have started to develop mental health issues. They have been left with no option but to swear in those affected as government ministers shortly.????

If you do get offered one, check the use by date ????

Yeah that's nearly exponential.

As is 1% or -5%  . . . almost!

All these figures but they never show how many were tested, only ever hear of positive results.

Was it 1% or 100% of the tests that were positive?

The number of people entering quarantine seemed unusually high today (200+).  If the government is concerned about having sufficient hospital rooms or room in field hospitals, can such a high number of arrivals testing positive be sustained?

I looked at the stats, again, and there were only 2 persons from outside the country who tested positive.  Not sure what the stat was about over 200 entering quarantine.

it wouldn’t be speculation if I did...people speculate on the stock market every day without concrete evidence of what will happen, quarterly reports and annual forecasts are often wrong and share prices tank or rise accordingly..people form an opinion on the information (including comparative information) that they have and there are people who have the same or differing opinions which is what forms the market...this is what I am doing here. And as with the stock market there is every chance I am right and the next man is wrong and vice versa...that’s life.

I was going to post practically the same as your first two sentences.

I believe that the waiting time for test results is around four days so the figures are in theory out of date by the time they are published.

I remember a year ago they published statistics to include the number of tests results outstanding amongst the statistics. Not now.

No, they are all simply exponential, but the growth rate is the steepness of the line.

Just need to bear in mind that in general the fatality data needs to be related to the case numbers from 14 days ago.

More than happy for you to call it a linear growth, I'll carry on calling it an exponential trend line.

Its the actual data that is important not the terms used. The fact is there is a surge in cases in the pandemic that is clearly not under control.

However just to keep you happy then please feel free to call this a linear increase, I'll carry on calling it an exponential trend line..........thanks..........cool.

Feel free to make your own covid chart and post.

Family in the US is watching the wave of the virus currently hitting Thailand now and are extremely concerned for my family over here including myself.  They see it as heading to a point here in the next week where it will totally overwhelm the hospitals and staff here.  They also wonder how prior to this there were so few cases, and deaths.  I told them they needed to some research and see how Thailand had handled the shutdown of the country from the outside world, and then the quarantine of travelers entering the country as well as hospitalization all positive Covid cases even asymptomatic.  My Daughter the surgical ICU PA, started to laugh when she was talking to me as we went through stats together.  I asked her why she was laughing and she stated "Their testing stats are so low in comparison to positive cases".  She said they should be testing more than they have and doing it randomly out in the villages and provinces to get a real feel for what is truly happening.  I told her I agree with her, but that's not how they do things here.  That is when she told me how concerned she was and how she viewed this as a ticking time bomb for Thailand especially since their vaccination program is at a crawl.  I told her I believe I am safer here than back in the US, but my family involved in the medical profession believes that I am not being realistic.  5 phone calls to me in the last 3 hours, ugh.  The big question they all asked me:  "Why did they not stop the travel for the Thai New Year, and allow this to spread nation wide when they knew what the current Virus Variant was", and "Why treat this wave different then when they stopped the travel last year with fewer numbers and less serious cases".  My answer was, I have no clue other than I believe it was all over money.
