Thailand reported 1,390 new COVID-19 infections on Monday and three additional deaths.

 

Of the new cases, 1,058 were local transmissions, while 326 were imported from people entering quarantine and 6 foreign infected persons (screening at checkpoint and entering the hospital/quarantine).

 

14,851 people remain in hospital receiving treatment, 28,787 have recovered.

 

Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 43,742 with 104 deaths.

Better results overall today compared to the 1,767 new cases reported Sunday, despite the three new deaths reported today, with only two provinces, Bangkok and Chiang Mai, reporting more than 100 new cases (yesterday's numbers in parentheses for comparison):

The dropoff in new cases reported Monday may have been influenced by Sunday being the last day of the long Song Kran holidays weekend. However, a government spokesman expressed optimism that the recent control measures/restrictions imposed by the government will lead to "a better situation" in the coming weeks.

 

 

The new COVID cases total the government reported Monday was the lowest daily total in the past five days.

How did they arrive at 326 cases from people entering quarantine? What does that even mean?

Just wait a few days until everyone is back from holiday and the hospitals are running at full staff and testing places too. 

 

That is if they have enough test solution ect.

 

Though I hope this will go on going down. But i doubt it to be honest.

It would really be nice to see when these cases were actually tested for, and the time frame from the date of the test to the date of clearing the lab as being reported positive.  Rode by Bumrungrad hospital on my way home from MTT this morning, and it appeared they were already queued up en-mass for covid testing with security guards directing people on where to go, and this was around 9 am.  I understand because of Songkran that many may not have been tested, or those tests have not been resolved in a quick turnaround due to lab techs being on holiday, but I sure hope they are jumping on those today and this week to ensure and calm the publics fears that they are doing everything they can.

Yes the upcoming week will be interesting with hospitals and test facilities back up to 100% and people back from Songkran. I was actually surprised by the jump during songkran given the limited people home and more limited health care and testing.

326 is from outreach screening, not from traveler's quarantine. Six is today's number of new cases via quarantine.

Is there a website that shows cases by Province , now that all 77 have active cases it would be good to know how many where i am as the last report i have seen was Dec 2020 with 2 women who sold seafood .

Do you mean these people were first placed in quarantee because they were high risk, then tested positive? That would make sense to me but I don't know.

A government spokesman provided some details on the three new fatalities:

 

--a 56-year-old male waiter who worked at a Bangkok entertainment venue who had traveled to Buriram and died with COVID and heart failure.

 

--an 84-year-old Bangkok woman with a range of serious pre-existing conditions.

 

--a 61-year-old woman who worked as a trader in Prachuap Khiri Khan who had the pre-existing condition of diabetes.

 

The spokesman said that while younger, working age people are making up the bulk of the total COVID cases, the fatalities thus far are falling predominantly on the older patients, including those with pre-existing conditions.

Outreach testing!  Which the government has been doing all along in various targeted ways, such as the Thong Lo community, etc... Has nothing to do with traveler quarantines.

It had been about 3 dozen provinces, the last time I saw an updated list. So ya, it's been growing lately.

They report new cases each day, but the EN version of those doesn't include cumulative totals. There's a TH version that does include cumulative totals.

 

Once again on Monday, the MoPH briefing appeared to provide little to no information on the extent of current hospital bed availability, or on what portion of the 14,851 people the government reported being hospitalized as COVID positive have serious symptoms vs. having little to no symptoms. The government had provided daily updates on the latter info until this past weekend.

 

However, last night, the Ministry of Public Health did provide a list with a patient breakdown at just 15 or so hospital facilities run by the government's Department of Medical Services that did provide such condition breakdowns on a group of about 500 patients in those hospitals on Saturday and Sunday, as follows:

 

(Note, the info below is just a very narrow slice of Thailand's COVID positive population that's been hospitalized. The charts below don't include any private hospital data or data from many other government/public hospital facilities).  But it is the only publicly released breakdown of its kind that I've seen thus far.

 

Also note, I edited the first chart below to add English translations where needed and provide the percentage breakdowns, for clarity purposes, since we are an English language forum.

I think it refers to people arriving from abroad and entering State Quarantine or ASQ

This may also indicate a drop in testing.

Latest day's COVID vaccinations reports, first cumulative, and then the latest day's additions. The subtotals reflect the portion receiving their first shot vs those receiving their second shot.

 

Negligible progress over the Song Kran weekend. Not sure why there's a small different in the total vaccinations figure between the two different charts.
