14 days mandatory quarantine returns for all arrivals to Thailand from May

Anyone arriving in Thailand from overseas must undergo mandatory 14 day quarantine, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced on Thursday.

Quarantine is required, regardless of whether or not the person has received a vaccination for COVID-19.

Anyone who checks in to an alternative state quarantine facility will be  required to remain in their rooms and will need to take a COVID-19 test at the start, during and at the end of the quarantine period.

People who arrive in Thailand before May 6 but who hold a Certificate of Entry dated before May 1 will be required to quarantine for between 7 and  10 days depending on their vaccination status.

Thats ok i dont think many people will want to come during this third wave anyway .

  • Popular Post

Result:

- Rare long-stay tourists will not come;

- Business people - no travel => business closures, economic loss

- Illegal traffic across the border - still no control; illegal crossing encouraged

- Effect of this measure on virus spread - almost zero (less than 0.4% of all positive tests are from quarantined arrivals)

But this is a good show that 'govenrment is protecting'. If they ban alcohol again, many Thails would complain. If they ban 'dirty farangs', it seems OK for average farmer.

No way any tourists are doing this!

They’ve seriously got to start trusting those vaccinated (with test) that had their second jab two weeks previous or whatever. If not, what’s the F point. The country will never reopen since covid is here to stay.

They don't need tourists; not the ones running quarantine hotel mafia. All promises about relaxed quarantine from April 1st were lie: still locked in room, no walk outside/pool/gym, treat people in quarantine like dogs, low quality food/drinks without choice, people have no rigths and get terrified by hotel management and police!

All I have to say to this government is #$%& %$#!!!

If they think I'm quarantining for 14 days after coming back fully vaccinated they have another thing coming.

Hopefully they lift this before I get back in mid June or I'm breaking out early.

There is no f%^#ing way they will bottle me up in a room for 14 days after being vaccinated.

If this stupid government hadn't screwed this up we'd all be home free. But instead of sealing off the northern border they sprayed the ground.

Give me a break! Fully vaccinated people hold no threat whatsoever.

My guess is this is changed by Monday (if not later today) and the quarantine for vaccinated people will be fully lifted by then.

Otherwise I may have a longer trip to the states than planned and I don't want that!

I'm not terrified in the least.

A tiny proportion of the the population has been vaccinated....    faith in the vaccination is wholly irrelevant.

The point you have tired to make is utterly pointless.

This is all about ensuring the variant B.1.167 does not enter Thailand.

Variant B.1.167 is the dual mutation variant currently ravaging India - It classified as a variant of concern.

Variants of concern are classified as such as because of:

- Increased transmissibility

- Increased morbidity

- Increased mortality

- Ability to evade detection by diagnostic tests

- Decreased susceptibility to antiviral drugs

- Decreased susceptibility to neutralizing antibodies

- Ability to evade natural immunity (e.g., causing reinfections)

- Ability to infect vaccinated individuals

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variants_of_SARS-CoV-2

While much can be criticised of the response of many governments, this is one response which makes perfect sense.

I am directly impacted by this as I travel for work and thus the shifting goal-posts directly impact my time with my family. Yet, I cannot fault this latest move.

My guess is that we will face this 14 day quarantine until the ‘variants of concern’ ravaging other countries (i.e.) India are under control, that vaccines are proven effective against variant (B.1.167) and a greater proportion of the Thai population is vaccinated.

Your message is not clear to me.

If they where doing the right things since years now they would be an evolved country like US a place you prefer to not travel to.

We have to be sad just for the people who will die for wrong decisions, for the rest government is doing a great work to make thailand a great place to travel to in the future.

The reason quarantine exists in the first place is because of stupid and uneducated people who would ‘break out’ and can’t be trusted to quarantine in their homes.

I expanded my post already to spell it out for those unable to join the dots and think beyond the narrow facet of their own selfishness.

What about the 99% of residents in Thailand not yet vaccinated?

What about Phuket bookings for first of July? People have booked based purely on 7 DAYS

Issan girls better get used to the farming lifestyle, gonna be a while..

Alongside quite a few others I arrived in Thailand end March did my 15 day quarantine stretch and am now enjoying Thailand and all at the other side of that quarantine that made the effort worthwhile

As a guy stated at the time, you gotta want it bad enough, quarantine is doable, no question, and no great suffering. Only real acceptable excuse is your actual available time to spend in Thailand

If things are bad and worsening in Thailand; and things slowly improving in western countries—then why does the Baht rise each day, while western currencies flounder?

All the more for the rest of us already here (although I’ve already got mine).

Well if those incoming are vaccinated and the vaccines cut transmission, why should they quarantine. If there are still only 70% vaccinated this time next year, should they still quarantine??

''Under control''?? might take years...i hope you don't have a tourism related business...

The funny thing is that this upcoming tourist season will be a total write-off again.

Just because they land on the ground it takes time to jab and time to build immunity.  Try a month after the start.

There is no cognition on how serious the situation really is.

Until then, watch those goal posts change weekly, daily.
