New restrictions in place in Chonburi, permission needed for travel out of province

As preventative measures are about to be increased in Chonburi, including in Pattaya, anyone wishing to travel outside of the province will need permission granted from the local district administration from Saturday (1 May).

 

This is done in the form of a document which needs to be submitted, along with proof that the trip is essential.

 

Examples of an essential trip would be the need to travel to a medical appointment or for work.

 

If the trip is deemed to not be essential you could be refused permission to travel.

 

With your application you should submit, for example, details of your medical appointment.

 

If you are travelling for work reasons, you should get a letter from your employer confirming the reason for your trip. The letter will need to be signed by a senior member of staff such as a director/owner. 

 

Permission is not needed for anyone wishing to travel into the province. 

 

For many expats living in Pattaya and the surrounding area the nearest offices to submit your request will be at Banglamung District Office and the Muang Pattaya District Office, which are open from 8.30am to 4pm daily.

 

At the time of posting, the form that needs to be completed only appears to be available in Thai. 

 

As of Saturday (1 May) Chonburi will officially become a ‘dark red zone’ under maximum and strict Covid-19 control. 

 

As a result, more preventive measures will be in place throughout the province from Saturday, including the return of checkpoints, a ban on dining in restaurants and increased enforcement to stop people from gathering in public areas such as along Beach Road or in parks.

 

It is not yet clear whether beaches will be allowed to remain open.

 

The new measures were announced at a meeting held by the provincial governor and Chonburi Communicable Disease Committee on Friday afternoon.

 

An order officially confirming the restrictions is expected to be released on Friday evening.

Would they need to check all cars, bikes, trains, buses and airports that leave the province for the required document?  Surely not.

 

Perhaps somebody can enlighten me.

Glad the Mrs did a bulk shop this afternoon, no need to go anywhere for the next 2 - 3 weeks, boring I know but hey what the heck, my only question though is if people have family or friends from out of province staying are they allowed to go home without jumping through hoops ?

I live in Rayong... right next to Chonburi and have to go to hospital there on a regular basis... can I go in from Rayong, then out?

Just as last lockdown trains and buses wont let you on with out the letter giving you permission to leave Chonburi and yes expect police checkpoints all across Chonburi stopping people leaving the province without the permission letter. Face it we are all prisoners' in our own province again.

Yes - you can check in, but you can never leave.

 

If entry to Chonburi in uncontrolled, but exit is restricted, then eventually everyone will be stuck in Chonburi.  It's like a black hole ..... with a beach.

 

Struggling to understand how this helps to control COVID.

Seriously.....? 

It would be better if people were prevented from leaving other deep red zones at the same time, or entering Chonburi from say Bangkok.... that is how we got into this mess in the first place. Aided by people able to travel far and wide over Songkran.  It is like a scaled down version of how Australia is handling it but unlikely to be as well controlled. 

There is likely a lot of benefit in simply deterring the travels.

If anything like the last time here in Phuket they had to prove they lived in another province all of a sudden something like 40,000 people wanted to leave the island, Then I knew a couple of families who couldn't get back to Phuket because they was not registered in the Tabien baan here.

It didn't happen to me. On two trips between Chonburi and Buriram I was not challenged once.

Gyms are generally populated by healthy young  people, and the over 50 crew are in damn good shape. Both groups benefit from interaction with the like minded. Not to mention that  babes serve as training motivators. In short, gyms are full of people whose immune systems effectively fight off the virus.*

A friend posted an announcement about where the checkpoints will be effective this morning, but it's all in Thai. I haven't found an English version yet.

Note these are in Chon Buri. Not Rayong, or Korat, or Roi Et. I have no idea what the other provinces will do or what restrictions they may implement or if they will have checkpoints or what you may need to go through them.

Final new Chonburi orders. There is not much change from the prior orders and CCSA orders and what we announced this afternoon. We will give a brief overview on tomorrow mornings video and daily Covid19 update but as very little has changed besides the national and prior directions we won't translate it tonight due to the late release.
