What will happen when 80% of Thais will be vaccinated while only 20% of foreigners will be lucky to get their shot? What kind of treatment will we get from the locals at that point?

Which vaccine did they get?

Sinovac or AstraZeneca?

If Sinovac were they over 60?

This is the last foreigner vaccine thread I'm opening until I see something that isn't pure speculation.

I have a pink ID card, tax number, social security number and work permit.

Was told by the school this weekend we would be getting the vaccinations for everyone including foreign staff.

Thai teachers went yesterday and foreign teachers were today after spending all yesterday filling in forms.

 

We go today at  7 AM to the site for paper check and all the other checking we are doing, the minute we get there a Thai health official is saying why foreigners here, not for foreigners.

 

The Thai teacher explained to him it was agreed for us to get the vaccine as we work with the students, but he was still not enough for Thai so why foreigners get the vaccine.

 

He went and rang his boss who also said NO to foreigners.

After 2 hours waiting and many phone calls we all left after just sitting around and being looked on as a side show by all getting the vaccines and these were many ages not just over 60's.

 

They now said maybe next month or July.

 

So if you have registered good luck if you can get it as here not much chance.

Well as I've said before it's not real until that sweet sweet vaccine juice is in a syringe being injected into your arm.

As a retired expat, Why would I be given a tax ID number? 
I contribute an enormous amount of VAT to the Thai government (far far more than the average Thai), and other associated government fees (visa, vehicle  registrations, etc) additionally  I pay rent and salary to several domestic employees. I pay taxes on my money before it comes into Thailand (in the country in which it is earned) and do not have taxable income here. 
it isn’t so much as me me being “bothered” to get a Tax ID Number, so much as it is you being “bothered” to get informed before you spout off bigoted nonsense.

Thai bureaucracy is only quantitatively worse than - not qualitatively different from - other bureaucracies in other countries in its focus on process rather than outcomes.

 

In a culture that highly values complexity & ambiguity, the underlying assumption is that out of chaos and a multiplicity of methods and paths, we can all eventually arrive at nirvana. They will probably turn out to be right. The only question is one of timing.

I have already registered on the Mor Prom LINE account and then was able to register and secure an appointment for a shot on June 8 at 4 p.m. at my local public hospital in Phetchabun on the Mor Prom phone app. There were lots of other choices of hospitals and dates.

The app asked for my passport information and pink card number, so it knows I am a foreigner. I'm going to show up at 4 p.m. and expect a shot, but I'm prepared to be turned away at that time.

 

I'll post a follow-up if to let everyone knows what happened.

have read here of several “ registration” appointments being cancelled or turned away...... “ thai govt” is not riding to falang rescue here.... no NHS here...

if they have vaxed just 1% thais, after 6 months from UK vax start, “thai govt.” clearly are not going to vax falangs for many months to come........ for me its simple : PRIVATE HOSPITAL whenever....

What, you don't think that the world has been standing still long enough after a full year of closed borders? You have so little to do with the rest of your life that you are prepared to endure the status quo for several more years while vaccines are tested to your satisfaction? I am 68 and want to get back overseas before it's too late for me. I have already had my first AZ shot and looking forward to my second.

Many people get it in order to get tax withheld from bank interest refunded to them.

It would be nice, but I will not hold my breath, if those of you not actually living in Thailand , I mean boots on the ground right now , to disclose the fact when you make your “contributions” (555) to topics on TV. As above. It is a combination of people making the announcements not being clear or not knowing what they are talking about plus very, very poor quality reporting and mistranslations.

 

It is totally unclear if the announcement meant  when people can register i.,e. make the appointment vs when they could get the vaccine, but I think the latter; people are registering already and the foreigner-friendly app is due out within weeks.

 

Also unclear which foreigners they refer to but I think they mean general pop not high risk groups.

 

I have pretty well given up paying attention to these news reports and instead just follow first hand reports of registrations and, hopefully soon, receipt of vaccination.

Sorry, but this is BS. No one asks for a Tax-ID. Yellow-Housebook, ´cause your name is in Thai, pink ID or Passport, ´cause this will be your registration number. But if you have a Tax-ID, this could also be your registration number for the vaccination.

I too registered on the Mor Prom system for 7 June, however there have been articles saying that the system is for Thai's, so farangs should not go to the appointment, otherwise they will be sent away, so I won't be going and others shouldn't as well.

So we will have vaccinated foreigners who will enter Thailand via Phuket in July, spend 7 days in Phuket then travel to Bangkok, Pattaya etc possibly carrying the virus, mixing with expats who have not been vaccinated, not even registered for it. Makes sense.

One last thing this vicious virus will not as you say 'peeter out' - its universal, it changes like the Flu virus. There is no end point. Massive vaccination campaigns and then yearly vaccine now needed as EU & USA & China are doing. We live with this yes but only when all 18yrs to 100 yrs vaccinated.
