Thai caption: Australian arrested in downtown Nakhon Sri Thammarat

Thailand's army security forces and local police swooped and arrested a 47 year old Australian man in downtown Nakhon Sri Thammarat yesterday, reported Manager.

Samuel C. was driving a white Toyota with Bangkok plates. Inside the car was a passport indicating that he was on overstay of one year. There was also a fake driver's license.

Manager reported that Mr C. had been followed for some time after leaving Phuket in the rented vehicle.

A rental firm had rented him the Toyota and arranged for a fake license.

It is alleged that Mr C. is mixed up in drugs and the supplying of Thai women to foreigners. He is part of the nightlife entertainment scene in Phuket and allegedly has links to foreign mafia.

Three months ago he left Phuket but the security services were on his tail.

He stayed in four hotels and resorts in Nakhon Sri Thammarat. He would switch from one to the other and always stay in his room in the hours of daylight.

He would go to various places at night.

He claimed that he was a legitimate businessman doing business in the town.

He was arrested in the Nai Muang sub-district and charged with being on overstay.

Inquiries into his activities in Thailand and that of his associates continue.

Must be the ministers courier here in Thailand.  Sure when he is returned to Australia he can run for office and be appointed Prime minister because he was not arrested in Australia but in Thailand.

On overstay and with a fake licence? That defence should work if he can provide sufficient copies of Form THB 1000.

well there you go, all those connections when it hits the fan are worthless.

"Aussie with drugs, prostitution, mafia connections"..... so... an Aussie?  The rest of the description seems very non specific :D.

Unlike the British who are always the victim, never the villain, Australia does have it's share of crims and dirtbags.

Good to see this piece rubbish caught and locked up.

Not a good time to be in the system with covid rife, and little chance of an early plane out.

Now will he be one of the 50,000 being freed?

So he was able to obtain fake driving license but did not renew his visa for 1 year? that makes no sense at all.

OP also claims security forces were on his tail but all they have on him is the over stay?

And another rather puzzling piece is he stayed in room day time but went out night time, but night time everything is shut, so where did he go at night?

More important, did he use a mask?!

Prostitution & Drugs in The Kingdom of Thailand .

Never I don't believe it ,must be Fake News.

Bigger hotels usually check your Visa when checking in, as they must report to IO... He greased the wheels ? Actually only minor offenses, at least according to this fine report. Fine for overstay and fake DL, a slap on the wrist, a ticket to OZ, and a generous donation for the BiB's, of course.

Surprised they said aussie it's always foreign man caught doing bad that brainwashes everybody in thinking   that all foreigners are bad

Either he was workshy or night owl.

Can't charge him with being involved in prostitution.

Here is none of it and it was confirmed by one of the top sheriff's.

Closing between 11pm/4am doesn't count for them.

Ah, that's what the Thai army does...

Australia, drugs....hmm, reminds me of a court ruling a short time ago. If the conviction didn't happen in Thailand, then, you're not disqualified....

Ministry of Agriculture??????

Why did they not give his full name. Maybe an immigrant aussie (not PC but) and it would have given him away.
