Fairly new to Pattaya, at least in the sense of shopping for medication.

Last year I had a TIA and I'm now on blood pressure tablets, anti clotting and cholesterol tablets.

I arrived a couple of months ago with about 3 months worth of tablets, so I'm almost in need of topping up. Tried a couple of local pharmacies today but they don't stock what I need.

Just wondering if there are any recommendations from you guys for the best place to purchase that kind of med in the Pattaya area.

Many thanks

It would help if you list the meds...very often local versions/generics will be the same if you cannot find brand name imports

If you run into any issues...I know they can be had at the GPO (Government Pharma Org) shops in Bangkok. I know a hassle but they are pretty good to deal with, especially on generic versions.

All of these drugs can be bought in Thailand.

Many thanks scuba. I'll give it a go

Right opposite Tesco Lotus...  you can also get a discount card from them if you expect to be a regular customer. Determine the local names for your medications too .... or take some details so their pharmacist can help you with generics.

I know for a fact BP medication 'Amplodipine' is known as Amlopine here, availabke in 5 or 10 mg tablets, and are cheap and you can buy a box with 10x10 contents.

Go to facebook  and type in    "Medisafe"   they are a pharmacy company based in Bangkok, they will  reduce your  medication bill by  at least a quarter, as they did mine, they will give you a quote online and  they will deliver  your medication once a month to your address free of charge. I have tried these companies that offer  you a discount card, the discount was added on   before the take it off ..shop around and see..

Thanks actonion.

Just looked them up and sent them an email. ????

I will also pop down to Fascino and compare prices.

Many thanks for everyone's help. Really appreciated

I found that if you see a doctor at one of the public hospitals ( Banglamung or Pattaya hospital on Soi BuaKhao) tell them about your condition and meds you are using. There are a lot of medications on the Thai Govt. subsidized list that we can get too for good prices. It is possible to buy 3 months supply if you want. At Banglamung Public hospital it is only 200Baht for seeing a doctor. At Pattaya Hospital it is 500Baht. Both have good pharmacies. I know this is late, but I hope it helps.

The Gastro Specialist at BPH wants me to get some tablets that they don't have, and Fascino or Fascistos, however you look at them, want 2000Baht for 30 tabs. I am avoiding this until I can find better price! ????

Good luck with that, i have compared  Fascino prices  too, and they are always more expensive than my regular pharmacy, but Medisafe beats them all

Standard government hospital price to see a doctor is 50bht.

Got the prices back from medisafe and was impressed with not only the prices but the response time. Definitely buy from them if the Doc and subsidized medication route doesn't work

I went to Fascinos yesterday and was aghast at their prices. I gave them the full list and they wrote down the prices. I asked if they were sure and they said yes. I ran out of Amlodopine last month so bought some from Boots. Boots were 55bt for 10. Fascinos wanted 1,356 for 30 !!!

It was the same with every requirement I had, far more expensive than elsewhere for the same thing.

I'll definitely give the clinic route a try .

Many thanks

Surprising about Fascino, in Pattaya they are always cheaper than all the pharmacies on Buakhao except for electrolytes, but maybe for certain types of meds they are expensive

I just emailed medsafe and they emailed back within a couple minutes, but they are quoting 680 baht for something I get for 400 elsewhere, shows need to shop around

That just means all the other pharmacies in Pattaya are used to ripping white guys as well.

The pharmacies that serve mainly Thais are cheap.

Could this be a rise in prices due to covid?  (less sales - put price up)

That has got be a mistake lost in translation etc, I buy amlodopine 5mg for 10 tablets for 25 baht, thats at most pharmacies in town, at the government hospital if you are registered even cheaper.

Because I had already bought some 10mg from Boots, I pretty much knew Boots would be high end price and that's  why i specifically asked her " are you sure about this"? I gave her a printed spread sheet with names of the drug (not brand)and dosage. Exactly the same info I gave to Medisafe.

Not in this example, where i buy is about as cheap as you can get, but i thought I'd try medsafe as people kept mentioning it
