What are those with the guns scared of? Do you seriously believe the spineless population is going to remove these incompetent despots. Look next door to Thailand’s neighbor if you want to see how scared the generals are. The best the Thai people can hope for is that they avoid being murdered by bullets instead of COIVD.

Popular Post Yewbzee
For the first time since this circus started 18 months ago I'm seriously considering heading back to the UK to get vaccinated. My concern is the diminishing number of ICU beds. Once they are full, as is already happening, and you are unfortunate enough to need one you are totally effed.

Henryford
The best measure is to look at the excess deaths from all causes against the average. Seems to vary a lot but some months it is 10-15% above normal. A normal month is 40,000 deaths so that's another 4-6,000. Yet again the Thainess of money shines through in which case we will NEVER know the true amount of deaths, but hey we get subs, tanks, and more new Wat buildings.
MrJ2U
I think thats what people have been thinking all along. Its difficult to gauge anything with Anutin in charge of the Ministry of Health. He's building engineer not a doctor despite playing one in real life.
Popular Post spidermike007
Since the beginning, the dregs have been lying, cheating and mismanaging. Of course the numbers are higher. Anything and everything this administration does and says needs to be questioned. The people have to make a statement, the people have to remove the 250 crony senators, and the people have to find a way to turn this nation around, and drag it back from the stone age of dinosaur leadership. Prayuth, Pratin, Anutin, Phiphat, and the mafia chief Prompow must go. These guys are toxic, corrosive, corrupt, ineffective, incompetent, untrustworthy, very bad for the nation, and virtually assure a rotten future for the nation, a drop to 75th place in GDP, and increasing irrelevance. They have already turned Thailand from the tiger of SE Asia, to a sorry, rabid, whiny, anemic alley cat. This all happened due to sheer stupidity and stunning greed. Thailand is really going into a world of hurt now. Tourism will not recover for years and domestic tourism has died. Millions of jobs lost. Prayuth has zero credibility, on any level. He is stunningly incompetent, and has long overstayed his welcome. And now, he has failed the nation miserably with this new wave, which could have easily been avoided, had some precautions been taken by locking down Samut Sakhon province immediately, and rooting out his bad apple immigration guys, on the border. There is no saying the extent of the corruption in this administration, but the army is not exactly known for integrity. He must step down, or be removed. He is a toxic force, and a dinosaur. The youth is right.

One Sub would be enough to vaccinate everyone in Thailand plus boosters 6 months later. There would still be plenty left over for raises for fireman and front line doctors and nurses.

Even their erstwhile supporters , who helped overthrow democracy , are realizing the mistake they made supposing the military would do better and be less self serving than the previous incumbents. This government is sitting on a pressure cooker. They are trying to release this pressure slowly by playing down the seriousness of the situation. It is likely to be a strategy that will lead to the unnecessary deaths of many less affluent citizens and the further crippling of the economy. But, at the end of the day they still have their guns , their tanks , and their patriotic raison de etre to fall back on so expect more of what we have seen so far. Are you talking about the previous USA President's actions and willful inactions to try to help his re-election chances? His is the blue print being followed in this situation.

khunPer
The problem with Covid death tolls are that it might not be Covid-19 that caused the death, but other diseases, in some countries they state it as "died with Covid-19". The Covid-illness might in several cases, especially among elder people with chronic diseases just have pushed a death a few month forward.

pegman
17 hours ago, Dmaxdan said: This guy is just stating the obvious. The number of deaths and reported cases will always be higher than reported. This goes for every single country in the world, not just Thailand. True, but by varying degrees. A Washington State university estimated that the deaths in the USA were under reported by 50%. 900k rather than the 600k reported. In Mexico deaths are suspected of being 60% under reported. In Thailand it wouldn't surprise me if there were many times more dead from the COVID than reported. What is more likely to be accurate is jabs given. On that front even lowly Laos and Cambodia have jabbed a higher percent of their respective populations than Thailand. Here in Canada we have no vaccine manufacturer. The publicly owned one we had was sold off by a corrupt conservative gov a few decades ago. Even so my province is now up to 75% of all people 12 years and over jabbed. It will be a long time for Thailand to reach that number at the rate it is going.
