I don't understand your statement

"Are you seriously asking about Dolby? Let's just make out that you were joking and move on..."

You posted the link for a Dolby 5.1 system.

In respect of the Dolby digital to analog converter there is a much cheaper one

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/vaorlo51dolby-dtsac-3-optical-to-51-rcatvdvdps4-i1564996855-s4211680828.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.2.3be03471SNuxvt&search=1

The other problem is that the AC-3 input of the speakers don't have an input for the Center speaker but it provides a Center speaker as output. No idea what will be the output there. In the worst case I will have to buy an additional active speaker that can work as Center speaker.

I don't want to spend much. I have a headphone for Dolby Surround. Not perfect but I can make as much noise as I want. With the speakers in a condo - will not use them often. It is for sure one of the cheapest Dolby setups you can have. I don't expect much. At least I have something to do...

It's cheaper because:

If you don't want to spend much then don't expect too much. If no ridiculously high expectations, likely you'll be satisfied overall at that price.

I have ordered everything today. I am convinced that this will be a high end Dolby surround system. If not then you are guilty. If you didn't post the link for this cheap 5.1 speaker system I never would have indented to buy such a scrap ???? No - in any case it will be an experience. Thank you for the idea.

Looking forward to your evaluation of the items.

Don't wait. Your system is different. It will be good. I know, because I am using one right now; a 2:1 system.

It's the 5:1 system I haven't used before. But the sound and quality is more than acceptable.

No need for you to wait.

I will post a feedback whatever the outcome will be. The speakers will come quickly from within Thailand. The Dolby digital to analog converter comes from China and it will take more time to get it. Total cost about 1500 Baht. People for sure will be envy when they will see this installation ????

Not worth spending more unless it is for a dedicated Home Cinema. By that I mean a room dedicated to just that.

The main issue I foresee is with the positioning. Are the leads long enough. Of course you can extend the speaker leads.

Many of the pictures of people's setups show all of the speakers in front of them. A bit pointless.

The other thing is where you sit. Of course if you are sitting closer to the rear speakers behind you and further away from the front speakers, there is perhaps no option to balance the sound by adjusting the volume of the rear speakers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sjocJvK6rI

But all in all, I doubt if you'll be seriously bothered by that.

Thank you for the tips. Don't worry. I had Dolby already more than 30 years ago (at this time it had only 4 channels and no Center channel. Speach in movies wasn't always easy to understand.). I also have a video camera with a special 4 channel microphone. All my personal videos are with real Dolby Surround. Only here in a condo I don't want to invest much. Can't annoy my neighbours. It is more a project for fun. I will let you know if and how much fun I have.

Test report cheap 5.1 speaker system

First of all I have wasted about 450 Baht. I ordered a Dolby digital to analog converter because I have thought I will need it. When I receive it from China I will extend my test report here and let you know if it improves anything.

I ordered this 5.1 speaker system

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/nano-51ch-ws-515-usb-bluetooth-wireless-i2348274111.html

Surprise. The speakers have a Dolby AND DTS sound chip built in (THX is no problem too). What does this mean? Any Line Out, Headphone jack or Bluetooth connection will be decoded to Dolby or DTS. Amazing. I even tried with the phone and tablet - worked. In addition some older DVD Player have AC-3 out connections. Mine is sadly so old that it cannot read the discs anymore and so I could not test these inputs. But my Blu Ray Player connected via HDMI to the TV provided great surround sound. Also files from the USB stick connected to the TV got decoded.

The cables to the speakers are about 1,6 (front, center) and 4,6 meters (back side).

With the remote or on the main unit you can adjust the volume for front, back, subwoofer and center speaker separately. Don't forget to switch to 3D. If you switch it on and nothing works press ST-BY.

Sound quality in surround mode is great (you don't realise in this mode that the speakers are pretty basic).

My speakers seem to have an additional one for high frequencies. This is only decorative. There is no extra speaker for high frequencies.

At my delivery there was sadly one speaker broken. The seller promised me to replace it. So far it holds with glue.

Right and left speaker plugs are not correct. Left is right and right is left.

Smell - the plastic smells. Hope that it will get less.

Radio is built in if anyone still uses something like this.

A good source for test files is YouTube

Try these. Just connect your phone / tablet with Bluetooth and you are ready to go.

If you download test files from the Internet and if you want to play them back on Android then install the VLC player. It can handle very many different codecs.

Here for instance you can find many files

just wondering if there are similar speakers options but Bluetooth, wireless, meaning no cables to deal with, I need to place them 2-3 metrs from the TV/Output device

Shame about the unnecessary spend. I did write this initially:

If only an optical out is available, then this too...

Your purchasing it seemed to confirm that you only had Optical Audio out.

Either way, still very good value overall by the sound of it.

The TV here has only an Optical Audio out, so if you don't need it, I might be in the market for a half price adapter. ????

I don't really watch TV, but for the odd film it might come in handy.

https://www.lazada.co.th/products/nano-51ch-ws-515-usb-bluetooth-wireless-i2348274111.html Interesting to note that this one does state Dolby Pro Logic in the small print.

I didn't initially spot the difference between that one and the FPK-1070. I think that might be the difference. FPK-1050 also available at a mere 750 baht.

I think those conform to Dolby Digital (AC3, 5.1) though without the Pro Logic component.

No - my TV has headphone, AUX in addition to Bluetooth, USB and HDMI. It was the last 3D model LG produced and has even things like Dolby Vision already.

I forgive you. Only 450 Baht but for sure an experience. On the other hand - about 7 (SEVEN) big Leo Beer. You should see my tears now.

But I did not expect too that it has a decoding chip for Dolby and DTS. I asked the seller and he also had no idea. In the end every two channel signal is decoded - independently if cable or Bluetooth. Only the AC-3 input might go directly. I will test this when I have the digital to analog converter.

The system is really good - especially for this price. So in the end you did my a favour. Only the plastic smell - hopefully it will be gone pretty soon.

It actually does say Dolby Pro Logic as a speaker feature in the small print. Since the seller added it, it is somewhat strange that he claimed to not know.

Perhaps, beyond the description, he had no idea as to what it actually does, so did not want to mislead you.

The plastic smell will go away ????

We should give our apologies to Yellowtail for hijacking his thread.

Where does it mention DTS or THX   in the  advert  all I can see is "Dolby Pro Logic"  which is analogue surround sound "conjured" from a stereo source  whereas DTS and THX are digital systems  offering a better surround sound experience..I loved watching The Matrix lobby shot out in DTS.

He doesn't mention it because he doesn't know it. Also nowhere on the box or on the unit are the typical Dolby and DTS signs. Perhaps the company producing them has no licence...

Anyway - it decodes both. I was very surprised. As long as a two channel signal has the decoding info it will be decoded - both inputs - cable and Bluetooth. The sending device is not important. The signal for decoding is in the audio stream.

In respect of THX. It is no technology like Dolby or DTS for channel separation. It is a quality standard for Dolby and DTS. So if it is THX these quality standards are met.

I would be very surprised too,    can you please post some photos of the inputs on this

NANO WS-515.

Why should I tell you garbage. It also has AC-3 inputs. I didn't test them but I think the signal will go directly to the speakers. Everything else wouldn't make sense.

I think they might avoid to talk about Dolby and DTS to much. I could imagine that they don't have a licence. In addition to the inputs on the photo you get a free USB stick for Bluetooth.

The producer is a Thai company. At least this is written on the box.

Ok, please don't call me retarded 555 but when it comes to this stuff I need to make sure my understanding is correct, I know is not a lot of money but still not wanting to be caught on some misunderstanding as the seller says BT for Bluetooth and some people said there was not BT.... you said yours has it, thus good for me, now the simple yet complicated question.

It appears the set comprises of 3 pieces, the central piece/amplifier or whatever it's called  that connects to the TV, correct?

And the two speakers on the side that will  connect to that central unit via BT, correct?

Now the tricky question is: how do I control the volume level that I assume the buttons are located/managed in the central unit, do I have to stand up and walk to that unit to increase or decrease volume level or can the remote from my Samsung Smart TV do it, control the volume

Where are the Digital inputs ?

The AC3 inputs  yes  they feed an already decoded signal from a DTS decoder direct to the speakers

using this unit as an amplifier ( I think)

They mention DTS decoder on their Blu-ray player

There are no digital inputs. But they are not necessary if you have an analog ouput with stereo. When Dolby was invented there were no digital inputs... I was one of the first users. The signal for the decoder is in the stereo signal.

I ordered a digital to analog converter because I thought I will need it. This decoder has a digital optical input and an analog AC-3 output. It will arrive from China the next days. But it is not necessary since the unit can decode analog signals.

I didn't expect that it can decode Dolby and DTS. On the first day I only listened to music via Bluetooth from my phone. On the next day I used it with the TV and played movies with surround. Then I pressed the 3D button on the remote and I couldn't believe it. It is no fake 3D. I tested endless Dolby and DTS recordings and it really works. Never had so much fun for so little money.

You missed the bit where they were referring to 1060. That came in two flavours; 1060 & 1060 BT. He states that this is a new model; the 1090 BT.

The speakers are connected to the central unit by wires. The Bluetooth function is used to send a single to the central unit. For example from your phone or laptop.

Your TV might not have Bluetooth, so if sending from the TV you might need to use a wire anyway.

If you don't want wires between the central unit and the speakers you will need something completely different and more expensive.

Depends on the solution chosen. I will assume by receptacle you might be referring to a charging dock or similar. Overall it's not sensible to expect no wires with such a system and especially at that price.

Example: https://th.jbl.com/bluetooth-speakers/CONTROL+X+WIRELESS.html

https://www.powerbuy.co.th/en/jbl-ลำโพง-2-0-jbl-controlx-wireless-red-229543 Not under 1000 baht and no sub-woofer.
