anchadian
BANGKOK, July 14 (TNA) – Amid partial business lockdowns in Greater Bangkok, beauty salons and hairdressers’ shops can continue to operate if they stand outside shopping centers and the likes, according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration. CCSA assistant spokesperson Dr Apisamai Srirangson said provincial communicable disease committees can permit the operations of beauty salons and hairdressers’ shops that were located outside department stores, shopping centers and community malls. The green light also applied to standalone dental clinics and beauty clinics outside shopping centers, she said. https://tna.mcot.net/english-news-738697 Edited July 14, 2021 by anchadian

A few of the "few" you allude to, I would hope, are not so naive that they think or believe any differently. Many here in Phuket have also been feeding the poor for over a year and fully recognise that it is a National tragedy and it is extremely heartening to see so many Thais as part of the support groups. My Thai Yai worker that I've known for 15 years would be working on some building for me now, but since he had trouble getting his papers up to date ("not doing that now..... just wait..... come back ") I am afraid to hire him. Just takes one snitch to bring problems down for him and us. good people, that we will also help as needed . nice to see some others here helping
Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
Another pandemic record high I just noticed for Thailand on Wednesday: 7,159 self-referred new COVID cases, which surpasses the prior high of 7,113 such cases on July 11. Those are the only two days of the pandemic thus far that Thailand has reported 7,000+ self-referred COVID cases in a single day. The current number is roughly double the number of self-referred cases reported daily from just two weeks ago. From today's government COVID update: https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/photos/a.106455480972785/364664511818546/?type=3 On the other hand, new cases reported in Bangkok on Wednesday remained about 27% below their pandemic high of last Saturday, July 10:

Yeah, I and two other farang teachers got tested in the VIP area, while all the Thai staff were tested outside. A bit embarrassing, but TIT!

anchadian
Nonthaburi is the first province to administer the AstraZeneca vaccine as a second dose, after an initial dose of Sinovac for its residents, starting Tuesday. The cross doses have been made available at vaccination sites at Central Plaza Chaeng Wattana, Wat Sai Yai's meeting hall, Central Plaza Westgate and The Mall Ngam Wong Wan, as well as to those who registered for vaccination via the “Mor Prom” (Doctors Ready) app starting on Sunday. Those who have already received a first jab of AstraZeneca will still receive the same vaccine as planned. https://www.facebook.com/nbtworld/posts/10158140024587050

Popular Post anchadian
No foreign tourists on first day of Samui reopening Tourism operators on Surat Thanis resort islands of Koh Samui, Koh Pha-ngan and Koh Tao are ready for a slow return of foreign travellers from tomorrow (Thursday). Only 11 foreigners – all members of the media – will take the Bangkok Airways flight from Bangkok to Samui on Thursday, according to the Koh Samui Tourism Promotion Association. "We do not expect a lot of travellers to visit Thailand in the third quarter this year as the rise in the country's daily Covid-19 cases would affect their confidence," association chairman Ratchaporn Poolsawas said on Wednesday. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40003237

I think it will be two years before there is even a hope of things to get back to normal. It's stunning to see Sinovac doing next to nothing stopping this pandemic. They don't have the proper vaccines. I figure it could be 2023 before people start to travel again to Thailand. They haven't even begun the vaccination program that needs to be done. It's just staggeringly inept.

I also looked at going to the UK and taking my daughter with me. But if I got stuck there because of changing travel conditions, my 3 month visa would run out. Seems too uncertain. I’ll just chill out here, not too bothered about it tbh. I get my heart rate up enough posting here without worrying about Covid…. Keep your head up. ABCbangkok
Home isolation? What a good idea. Sounds suspiciously like a quarantine. Who would have thought that staying home and isolating could be effective in managing the situation? You mean the govt is giving up on warehousing those infected with COVID, be it a light infection or a strong infection, in large arenas, on comfortable cardboard beds and state-of-the-art swivel fans? Seems like it was a good strategy. Who would have thought after 19 months of COIVD such changes were possible!

I want the hassle free travel rights that the vaccine will probably eventually confer. International travel was a major part of my life pre-Covid, both for business and for pleasure, and shut borders are a massive inconvenience for me. As a foreigner I'm gonna see if I can get one of those 1.5 million donated Pfizer vaccines that someone posted about a couple of pages back. (If you know how to do this, feel free to DM me the details). I'm probably not a vaccination priority in the system, but I'll try my luck anyway.
