BP have reported that the DofDC have ample supplies of AZ and Sinovac to administer 10m doses a month.

I went with the wife for her appointment for the Alpha Vaccine today in Nong Khai and also for mine which was only the Chinese one offered last week.  Seams like there are no vaccines available for the scheduled dispensation of vaccines.  NONE even no Chinese!  By the way my contacts with Thais indicates that they are turning down the Chinese Vaccines.   Pretty soon the Government will have a large surplus of Chinese junk.

Lots of statistics given, but I wonder how many tests are done on a daily basis -- anyone know?

To July 14:

USA has tested a total of       513,939,714

UK has tested a total of        226,775,887

France has tested a total of   97,199,510

I wonder on the Thai testing numbers because France claim that the UK has many more cases than themselves -- but they haven't tested as many people!  Purely a political statement meant to "fool" the people and gain political support for an unpopular government -- and they are a Western country!

So, what is the total number of tests taken in Thailand -- and just how many daily tests do the take in Thailand?

(The UK tested 1,177,716 yesterday.)

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s Comprehensive Covid-19 Response Team (CCRT) tested 7,444 people living in 201 communities over Thursday and Friday, BMA’s permanent secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsorn said on Sunday

The team also vaccinated 4,683 people and worked on boosting awareness among community residents, she added.

The BMA has set up 24 community isolation centres, and “plans to set one up in all 50 districts of the capital”, said Silapasuay.

In a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19, the Department of Health, in cooperation with several government, private agencies and CCRT, has been testing seniors, patients with a chronic condition and pregnant women since Thursday (July 15)

Well if they said how many among the people tested were positive, it would be a useful information piece. Without that it’s just a government PR piece.

If true, I wonder why they aren’t vaccinating more people everyday? 10m AZ plus 10 mil sinovac, equals 20 mil in total per month, which is roughly 600k or so a day.

It would suggest that there is another bottleneck.

Would that be Chang or Hong Thong?

Very interesting article in Guardian today that mentions the record high number of cases, also mentions other events and information about az production in Thailand not reported here...

Maybe you should read what China's scientists have to say about the efficiency of Sinovac:

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/are-chinese-covid-19-shots-effective-against-delta-variant-2021-06-29/

That’s a very interesting article, not just because of the comments from the Chinese scientists. It seems that they agree the two main Chinese vaccines do provide more limited protection against delta.

As of now, the Chinese appear to have prevented 129 cases of delta from becoming a major outbreak. and just look at how they ramped up vaccinations in the effected province. That’s impressive to me tbh.

Thailand's Vaccine Tracker (July 19, 2021) .

Sunday saw one of the lowest vaccination rates since the drive began. 10,850,099 (+69,667) people have received the first dose, while 3,448,497 (+5,167) have been fully inoculated. #วัคซีนโควิด19 #COVID19 #ล็อกดาวน์ #KE

I think we can assume this is the result of a tragically failed vaccination program, poorly organized if at all. As to the hospitals AND the vaccines, I don't see why western countries that have been recovering can't donate vaccines and medical equipment. That could have been done long ago. There is more than ample worldwide vaccine supply. In the US every pharmacy and many major retail and grocery stores offer free walk in vaccines. As someone else said, this goes to the top - this is Prayuth's failure.

Following the Indian model we are now likely to see at least 60,000 reported cases a day, which would be way under reported, and corresponding deaths.

Stay safe!

Wish I was a multi-billionaire…..

Then I would buy all the vaccines I could and save the country from this horrible situation. It would of course reduce my wealth, but also secure my legacy and I would still be super-rich.

Ohh well, just dreaming ????

I am sure I am right to say that if you look back over the last week, there were figures showing that Sinovac loses 50% of it's effectiveness every 40 days against the Delta variant. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Absolutely that's what the headline of that article said. But if you actually read what was reported about the experiment, it only lasted 60 days. So the reporter got it wrong. In fact, if you look at the article, he or she got a lot of stuff wrong in a very short space. That's why major media sources use reporters who have a strong background in science.

Climbing, and a little reprieve on deaths, Be safe folks.

Numbers are usually lower at the weekend as hospital deaths are reported after the weekend. Also I have noticed no security at some hospitals at the weekend due to the fact covid can't transmit at the weekend as it is a Monday to Friday virus.

Today there were 81 deaths in #Thailand

50 males & 31 females

Median age is 64 (29-100 years)

Most deaths in Bangkok (60)

37% died in less than 6 days of diagnosis

14 were infected by family members

https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1417015349464080385

The 60 deaths number for BKK listed above out of 81 total reported Monday is wrong.

The MoPH report for the day says BKK accounted for 26 of the day's new COVID deaths, followed by 9 in Pathum Thani, 5 in Pattani, 4 each in Phetchaburi and Nakhon Ratchasima, and then lesser numbers in a lot of other provinces.

By my quick count of the MoPH document below, it looks like there were new COVID deaths reported Monday in 27 of Thailand's 77 provinces.
