The question to ask at the end of the day is why did they not sign contracts awhile ago, and why did they drag their feet while laying blame on the OAG for having a final review before it could be signed. They do look so proud and smug in the Photo OP don't they.  Why is no one pointing at the signed document....

The pretty girls on the right weren't available for the photo shoot then.

wait, they suppose to sign it the last Monday.

Gen Prayuth has spoken to them personally, at face to face meeting and shaking hands photo opportunity, on 19th April, just after coming back from his extended songran hooliday and did promise an immediate action, ie order.

That was over 3 months ago.

If signed and ordered on that day, this vax had a chance to be already in Thailand, even in initial, small quantities, just for medics

Expected delivery was still 4th quarter. They are many countries ahead of the line.

They need these vaccines now - not in 4-5 months !

YES! But is anyone in Thailand surprised at YET another DAILY fake BS headline singing the Governments praises to the heavens!?

Phuket Sandbox/Samui will SAVE THE ECONOMY! My personal favorite used to be the "yearly" FAKE photo of 50 Police under the Pattya Walking Street sign and the glorious declaration that their inspection found NO SIGN OF PROSTITUTION IN PATTYA.

Now we have the, "ignore the 100 or so daily death toll", for the next six months while someone rows a boat full of vaccines from Europe to Thailand, it will only take him another 175 days to get here!.

So the rich and beautiful that travel the world need Pfizer, not readily available Sinovac. What a surprise, seems they don't trust their own cure from China. One wonders why ????

The fact is that whatever their level of trust in, most nations don't accept that Coronavac is proven to meet their vaccination standards. So without Moderna, they have a lot less options for international travel.

I think there are a number of reason, the delay was so they could push for the AZ as the main vaccine to be issue but the problem  they couldn't meet production isn't that a big surprise?

Then the delay was most likely to make sure those at the top got enough of a cut from the deal?  ???? OAG just happen to be the scrape goat of the day.  Then you got an article they couldn't sign the deal because the government didn't have the funds available to sign thus the reason they ask the private hospital to take money up front.

The photo op is shameful how does one screw things up then act if it never happened?????

They didn't have the money because they put it all in their deep pockets since the beginning of the outbreak when they said(and thought) everything was under controle . Now when it's time to pay up they say they don't have the money . But they have the money to keep on talking about subs and spaceships . I wonder if there is ever someome going to look into this moneygrabbing sceam . I think they thought that Grab delivery was doing so well they wanted Grab as well , only they Grabbed without giving any service .

By now there must be newer vaccines in the global works unless the "rich countries" have stopped bank rolling the research & development costs.

Yes, New Zealand has done a great job in keeping out Covid. But to be fair, it consists of 2 islands so it has a huge advantage. No porous borders to contend with. And it was slow to purchase vaccines.

Not a dissimilar position to which the UK found itself at the start of the outbreak then.

Simple really; wait for the crowds to rush to Hospitals with money in hand to book Vaccinations, Hospitals pass money to Government Gangsters who then order the Vaccine at zero cost to themselves !

No, its the Sinovac that doesn't work.

mRNA vaccines are very effective against the Delta variant.

Moderna will only be available to the private hospitals and smart people who paid in advance.

While Pfizer is a lot better than Sinovac, in Israel the latest news is that Pfizer is only 39% effective in preventing infection from Delta:

https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/coronavirus/1626980447-vaccine-39-effective-at-halting-virus-transmission-91-against-serious-illness-israel-s-health-ministry-says

So the Pfizer booster and an updated vaccine would help.
