If I had one baht for every Farang who claimed that they had Covid in the first quarter of 2020, I could pay for a shot of vaccine.

I have to out myself here.

in October 2019, I visited a clinic in Los Angeles that was filled with Chinese people evidently flu patients (I came for something else).

About 10 days later, I came down with what I thought was the flu, I was bedridden for 3 days with something nasty that, in retrospect, resembled Covid. After I got out of bed, I was sick for a month.

In 2020, I began to suspect that I had an early case of Covid. So I went for an antibody test. Nothing. So, it was just a bad flu.

no test = no Covid, as far as I am concerned.

I think he's right on some things.   Vaccinate and try and get on with life , we need normal asap and Thailand is killing itself with no plan of recovery.

So....................you don't think that the Delta variant might be a factor?

I think it could be the vaccines that are juicing up the deadly variants, like the Delta that you mentioned, because as we can see, the number of different variants is significantly rising after the vaccines rolled out and is still able to infect not only unvaccinated people but also fully vaccinated people.

Covid 19 cured patients, the only ones cured are the ones who have actually had covid and have natural immunity not the vaccinated ones as it is proven you can still catch and spread it

Indeed some are weird, went to the toilet on a highway, mask on. Some Thai guys saw me and runned away from me and waited until I finished to go back. Looked like I had some decease or so. Heard something from stay away from that farang????

Conspiracy theory.

you have no idea how clinical trials work.

Wrong, but you continually support Big Pharma at every turn. I invest in biotech companies and an important component of that is to closely follow how their molecules proceed through clinical trials. Even successful completion of a Phase 3 trial doesn't mean the company will prosper.

Why is there a photo of the doc singing "New York, New York" at karaoke?

This is the same guy who spoke out recently against lock downs. (see lockdown measures aren't working ) I agreed with him then and I agree with him now.

We have to stop cowering away from a pathogen that, for the vast majority of people, only causes a minor, short term illness and in many cases, no illness at all.

Vaccinate and protect the vulnerable and the frontline workers, then let the virus have its way and put an end to this crazy situation. The sooner we do that, the sooner herd immunity will be achieved and we will all be much safer and very much relieved.

The stress and strain that all this nonsense is causing on society is far worse than sickness itself.

Your post makes sense, however, slow or no vax rollout means the minority who do get very unwell, quickly overwhelm the system, when the system is broke, were all vulnerable to worse outcomes for everything harmful.

Here in particular, we deal with the insane road casualty rate, if deaths are in double digits, how bad are the serious injury numbers? And, there would have to be similar "industrial" casualties as workplace safety is a joke here.

Since people are often selfish, lack hygiene basics, just plain stupid, or all three, how else can the world deal with it but by enforcing separations? Sure plenty lockdown rules are idiotic, but overall, if something better could have been done in the "smartest" places, it would have been done by now, surely?

If you are suggesting that vaccination is causing Covid infections, you are posting misinformation.

I am not suggesting that. I am merely implying that the vaccines could have caused the mutations and different variants, especially those that have proved ineffective in preventing infections.

Besides, infections can spread indirectly by the vaccinations, as when people gather in places like vaccination centers where they have a high risk of getting infected.

Vaccinations have prevented death and hospitalisation.

That is all you need to focus on.

If not for the lockdowns, the death toll would be much higher.

Your post illustrates a common fallacy here: if lockdowns work to reduce deaths, then some people claim lockdowns aren’t needed, since so few people died.

You could also argue that vaccines aren’t needed in Chile, because there are only 800 new infections today.

@Danderman123 if not for the lockdowns, the death toll would be higher..... if my auntie had bo***cks she'd be my uncle

When I see poster on here who have had less than 100 posts and are spouting garbage, I have my suspicions.

Who are you people?  One of you with just 2 posts, were you kicked off, and finally been allowed to re join, or are

you aliens? Just curious

Lockdowns, impoverish the world, fear porn = tools of the RESET cabal to create a new world order.

Did you forget the wink emoji?

You had me at "fear porn" - and here I thought I knew every single porn category?

But "RESET cabal". Wow, do tell. is RESET an acronym for something?

And can you pin your location so the rest of us can stay far, very far away.

It's been 1.5+ years. What kind of people really still scared of Covid at this point? NGMI.

Delta emerged in India before almost anyone was vaccinated.

your facts are wrong, as is your premise.

Most people I know here are nervous about Covid, because they aren’t stupid.

Ever hear the expression “avoid it like the plague”?

HIV discrimination was much worse, and is still very much around.

I mean, I guess that's fair. AseanNow is a community renowned for the intelligence of its members after all.

Everyone likes to think they are smarter than average. The way I see it, in the long term, the lives people live usually tells their story.

Do you really think the medical community is stupid?

Most medical communities have the greatest level of compassion and the strongest desire to cure. But, in any bunch, there's always a bad apple or two

whats the deaths count from Covid now, 8,500  in 20 months ?

numbers so small compared to other ways people die in Thailand

If not for the media hype, lockdowns, etc, how many would even know or care with such small numbers

This isn’t the plague and most people are able to evaluate the risks to themselves and their families. If you are 18 and healthy you don’t have the same risk as a person that is over weight, diabetic with a compromised immune system.

How about treatment and medications that help with sever cases of the virus?  We have vaccines for the flu but they are not 100% effective so we have to focus on treatments and medications for serious flu cases.

VERY REASONABLE assessment - wow.

Let's hope the rest of the world and it's delusional (or power hungry) politicians - especially the ones in Australia and New Zealand hear and somehow accommodate this reality in their brains very soon, thus saving their citizens from more moronic "lockdowns", pointless vaccine coercion or closure of their businesses.

Where do they find these clowns with crazy predictions like this. These Thai doctors or so called officials love to make predictions. 99% of the time they are wrong

Is this guy the only one in Thailand talking sense?

It's what the "expert" in the West are saying also.

But do the medical community really know the long term affects?

What if these vaccines are the new Thalidomide?

If what this guy says is true, I wonder what the time frame would be.

I would think that if it is true, the whole world should just open up now and try and get back to previous years before the Cvirus came. what would there be to lose?
